HollyFrontier Corporation in El Dorado, KS is seeking a Server Administrator who, under general direction, is responsible for the technical design, installation, configuration and maintenance of all network components. The Server Administrator will plan, design, analyze, provide technical support for data communications network or group of networks, conduct research and evaluation of network technology, and recommend purchases of network equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: (functions considered essential as defined by ADA)
Consults with users and evaluate requirements, recommends designs, provides cost analyses, plans projects, and coordinates tasks for installation of data networks
Determines plan layout for new hardware or modifications to existing layout
Installs, upgrades, and configures network printing, directory structures, user access, security, software, and file services
Analyses and resolves technical problems for established networks
Plans, tests, recommends, and implements network, server, and workstation hardware and software
Provides network and server administration duties including configuration and maintenance
Provides documentation, training, and guidance to computing system clients and programmers
Configures and installs infrastructure equipment including servers and network switches
Manages and monitors data center resources including the Storage Area Network (SAN), servers, network equipment, rack space, and power availability
Conducts technical research on upgrades and components to determine feasibility, cost, time required, and compatibility with current system
Installs, supports and administers software and/or custom applications as required
Resolves issues and updates patches and maintains infrastructure
Recommends solutions for short-, medium-, and long-range projects
Serves as technical specialist in network and infrastructure problems and emergencies
Provides tier 2 and 3 support by troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure production problems
Establishes user profiles, user environments, directories, and security for networks being installed
Works as a team member with other technical staff, such as systems to ensure connectivity and compatibility between systems
Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the
Documents problems and resolutions for future reference
As needed, relocates technical equipment to and from an assigned location
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their superior, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
A minimum of five years of job related experience is required. Working knowledge and experience in project management is required.
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience is required.
Advanced knowledge of applications systems and ability to apply this knowledge. Expert level understanding of company operating systems platforms; advanced working knowledge of information systems concepts/design/development, systems development life cycle, recovery techniques, performance monitoring and tuning; decision-making, analytical, and problem solving skills. Conceptual and data analysis skills, advanced reading skills, the ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations, intermediate reading and writing skills, and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication. Ability to lead and supervise the work of others.
Microsoft and Cisco certifications with an emphasis on desktop, network, and server support are preferred:
Certifications in NET+, A+, N+, MCSA, CCNA, JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP, MOUS, CCIE, MCP Cisco and MCSE.
May lead other Network personnel as assigned and/or act as team lead on projects.
Office based with travel up to 40% of time by land or air is required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, working in confined spaces, and exposure to the risk of electrical shock. From time to time, required to work long hours which may include nights, weekends, holidays for regularly scheduled maintenance and emergency work and support as well as on-call availability. Subject to all weather and varying road conditions.
Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential, valid State driver's license and proof of insurance, perceiving color differences, ability to wear personal protective equipment (beards not permitted). Job conditions may require lifting and/or carrying up to 50 lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 50 lbs, and climbing up to 15 ft.
