Open to the Public Full-Time Days and Shifts: 1st Shift, 7am-3pm 7/2/24-OUF Eligible Employer for Public Student Loan Forgiveness as a non-profit. Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Central Plant Supervisor, oversee major repairs/new installations on plumbing systems, provide direction to Journeyman Plumbers and maintain the departmental apprentice program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for the technical and mentorship role for team members in the Tribal Member Plumbing Apprentice program.

Meet biweekly with Tribal Member Plumber Apprentice. Plan, evaluate and direct all journeyman and apprentice plumbing work. Ensure that all plumbing work is performed within accordance to applicable plumbing and building codes.

Assist Supervisor in implementing and maintaining a comprehensive plumbing Performance Management program throughout the Resort including all plumbing infrastructure such as valves, pressure vessels, relief valves, pumps and water softener equipment. Assist Central Plant Management in evaluating, assessing and prioritizing daily work orders for plumbers and plumbing apprentice. Coordinate work with Facilities Management, Planning Department Construction Team and approval of Tribal Council.

Implement training on new and old technologies. Assure work is in a craftsman like order. Assist Facilities Management team in budget development, plumbing utility usage analysis and infrastructure modifications to identify cost saving strategies.

Assist with the plumbing design and engineering evaluation documents for projects as needed per Construction Team, Facilities Management and Tribal Council. Ensure compliance with plumbing related safety training and safety gear for work activities by interacting with Facilities Management as needed. Assist in plumbing needs of Tribal Operations building through Utilities Director.

Evaluate and troubleshoot plumbing situations or problems that arise at any time. Work on proposals with the Facilities Management team regarding plumbing needs, rebate programs from utility provider and reviews for new equipment installations. Coordinate any plumbing utility repairs conducted by utility companies that may impact the quality or loss of building domestic water or sanitary sewer systems.

Assist with locating underground plumbing infrastructure and/or Miss Dig contacting as needed for projects and system repairs. Maintain the highest quality of plumbing knowledge for the benefit of the SECR and Tribal Operations. Implement ideas and projects to aid in the maintenance program.

Direct and inspect work completed by plumbers apprentice to ensure State of Michigan protocol is being followed to qualify for advancement to a licensed Journeyman Plumber. Utilize State of Michigan Plumbers license to apply for permit related work for SECR/SCIT work as directed. Document work with logbook reports and logging of documented work hours for apprentice program.

Familiarize self with State and Federal codes manual, blueprints, maintenance manuals, GHS policy and procedures, all located in the Facilities department. Direct and interact with mechanical contractors as required for plumbing related work. Practice SECR Hospitality Rules with internal and external guests.

Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority. Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor. Contacts/Purpose of Contacts:

Contact with requesting departments about problems with plumbing equipment and new equipment installation reviews. Contact with all Facility divisions as needed to resolve problems with equipment and plumbing systems as defined in the essential job duties. Contact with Central Plant Supervisor to discuss assigned work, related solutions and what other additional resources may be needed to complete repair.

Contact with vendors/suppliers/engineers as needed to discuss repair and design of equipment as defined in the essential job duties. Contact with Plumbing Apprentice to provide knowledge and training to support the apprentice program.

Meet with them biweekly to discuss where they are needing help and obtain feedback on job assignments they have been assigned.

Engage them on upcoming job assignments to maximize what tasks are most beneficial to their apprenticeship. Contact with Journeyman Plumbers on job assignments and technical support Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED.

Must be at least 18 years of age. Ten years of experience as a licensed plumber which includes a combination of apprentice, journeyman and master plumber. Must be able to pass background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.

Incumbents at or above the income threshold as determined by the National Indian Gaming Commission will be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license while in this position as part of their job responsibilities. Individuals who do not have the ability to obtain or maintain a gaming license will not be able to continue. License, Certification, or Special Requirements:

Must have a current and maintain a State of Michigan Master Plumbers License and a State of Michigan Plumbing Contractors license. Must have a valid State of Michigan Drivers License, with the proper designation required for the vehicle utilized to perform the job duties, and qualify for coverage by SCIT auto liability insurance carrier. A Tribal Drivers License will also be required if a Motor Pool Vehicle is used in the course and scope of the required job duties.

Native American preference shall apply to all positions. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of accepted plumbing trade practice, methods and techniques.

Knowledge of applicable environmental regulations and guidelines as related to refrigerants and toxic chemicals. Knowledge of standard construction safety practices and procedures. Knowledge of appropriate methods and techniques applicable to the construction industry.

Skill in advanced skills of the plumbing trade. Skill in writing logs and technical and narrative reports. Skill in the care and use of standard tools, equipment, and testing devices used in the plumbing trade and of accepted plumbing trade practice, methods and techniques.

Skill in the diagnosis and repair of plumbing malfunctions. Ability to lead and guide the work of others. Ability to read and interpret blue print plans and building plans.

Ability to install, repair and maintain plumbing systems, fixtures and accessories. Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and blueprints. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in verbal or written format.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to technically analyze plumbing problems and recommend or apply appropriate corrective action measures. Ability to prepare cost estimates and order materials and tools needed for projects.

Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds. Physical Demands: Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with computer and repair equipment.

Required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and reach with arms and hands. Occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Normal visual acuity, ability to talk and hear.

Frequent bending, lifting, stooping and reaching. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Work Environment:

Must possess sufficient stamina to work under all types of weather conditions including extreme hot/cold and to lift, carry, push, or pull a variety of tools, equipment and materials Work can be in confined, awkward or cramped spaces. Frequent work on ladders and in confined locations. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.

Evening, overnight, holiday and/or weekend work may be required. Travel may be required. Frequent walking and standing in a smoking environment and contact with the general public. Constant visual stimulation via neon lights on slot machines, repeatedly changing machine video screens, static or flashing signs throughout the casino and constant machine and crown noise.
