Job Description:

The Content Director (CD) is responsible for leading a portfolio of client digital accounts towards stated client and company objectives and is responsible for the growth, management, retention and satisfaction of these accounts. The CD will be accountable to partner with clients to address measured content/SEO landscape and work with client stakeholders across multiple digital disciplines to propose and defend SEO investment across all performance-based marketing channels. The Content Director will manage and direct a team of Search Strategists in this task and be accountable for maintaining accurate program forecasts and hitting stated revenue/ sales goals. Proven account management and team leadership experience is essential, along with deep experience in online marketing and digital media.

Role Objectives:

Account Management

  • Develops, manages, and monitors client investment for assigned accounts

  • Leads a team of SEO Content Strategists and operates as senior leader on accounts

  • Introduces Process Development Input, QA and Best Practices Input

  • Ensures client renewals and maintenance/growth of Performics revenue

  • Owns client KPI forecasting process and updates for forecasted results

  • Trains and grows leadership, technical, and management skills of direct reports

  • Supports departmental financial reporting, billing, collections as needed

  • Evaluates direct reports/team

  • Develops internal processes for growth of team

  • New business pitch/RFP support as necessary

Performance Media & Client Leadership

  • Develops and fosters account relationships. Working towards 100% account retention within a defined portfolio of accounts

  • Manages team resources and effectively delegates appropriate responsibilities

  • Advocates across functional areas within client relationships (e.g. IT professionals, marketing/product managers, C-level executives) to develop rapport and deliver complex solutions

  • Prioritizes/refreshes initiatives, projects, and milestones to relentlessly pursue KPIs

  • Can methodically forecast client results (KPIs) at engagement start and for renewal

  • Manages strategy development and execution for complex marketing disciplines, such as SEO, conversion optimization, landing page testing, content marketing, forecasting, content investing effectiveness, consumer profiling, customer profitability analysis (lifetime value), and ROI measurement

  • Leverages syndicated digital research (e.g. ComScore, Nielsen, Hitwise) to benchmark trends and/or manage expectations of forecasted trends

Team Leadership & Development

  • Embraces and encourages a culture based on team work, collaboration, and intellectual curiosity

  • Motivates, leads, and manages internal teams, working collaboratively to drive programs that meet our clients' business objectives

  • Drives adoption of stated account management best practices through example setting, positive reinforcement and behavioral correction

  • Assists in interviewing, hiring, training, mentoring, developing, and evaluating team members

  • Conducts performance reviews and career path plans for direct reports

  • Establishes expectations and goals for team on performance marketing thought leadership

  • Provide cross media planning training for their direct reports

Process Improvement

  • Facilitates the development and documentation of best practices to improve operational efficiencies within the team and the group

  • Contributes to blog, newsletter, training forums and/or task forces


  • Understands and explains the features and benefits of all products and services

  • Cross sells products and services to grow Performics' share of marketing spend

The ideal candidate has strong business acumen to manage content against our company strategy and goals, has built and led complex content teams, and has helped lead top tier content into the market. This role will be the primary owner of our global, cross channel content calendar, manage high visibility projects and processes, create and maintain project plans, coordinate input and review across large, cross-functional teams, define delivery parameters, ensure deliverables are completed and delivered on schedule as documented, and within budget. Partnering with the Director of Content, Managing Editor, and copywriters throughout the organization, this role will be accountable for executing content flawlessly and ensuring that the needs of the business are met. Driving cost efficiencies while maintaining quality and timely content outputs will be a critical part of this role. Reporting to the Director of Content Marketing, this role is based at our HQ in NYC. Responsibilities * Own and manage the entire content team budget and resourcing strategy, working alongside Brand, Growth, Sales, and Demand Generation on investment strategy * Manage content projects across channels and products, including prioritization of all incoming briefs, timeline development, and process flows through the last approval * Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure the needs of the business are understood and incorporated into the content calendar and executed for commercial success * Develop content creation processes, tagging, quality assurance, and on-time delivery for commercial success * Build operational capabilities to rapidly and efficiently deliver quality content at scale * Provide thought leadership for implementing industry-leading strategies and standards for developing and maintaining content in multiple platforms * Assess content needs and processes across teams to identify strategic areas of overlap and opportunities for improvement * Support content excellence from pre-production through post-production in the selection of partners and external/internal stakeholder management * Work with Marketing Operations in optimizing content authoring tools, CMS systems and AI/ML techniques for driving search optimization and repurposing of content * Build and maintain a network of external vendors and contractors for work overflow as well as needs that reach beyond internal capabilities * Create and maintain preferred vendor lists available across specialties and geographies * Manage KPIs and metrics associated with all content deliveries both from quality and maximizing throughput The right candidate for this role will be * 7 -10 years cross-functional Content Project Management experience, in particular managing detailed schedules and projects across 50+ contributors/reviewers, complex content initiatives, and senior stakeholder management * Demonstrated experience in driving operational efficiencies, improving speed-to-market, scaling up capacity, leading transformational projects, and delivering quality content * Can balance efficiency and creative reasoning—you think and act quickly, iterate when necessary, and constantly look for win-win recommendations * Have led teams of 5+ and managed development of content organizational design * Excellent communication, writing, editing, interpersonal, and organizational skills; ability to communicate at all levels within the organization, to technical, business, and executive stakeholders * Able to navigate multiple stakeholders towards the best business solution * Team player with a "no task is too small" attitude * Strong analytical and quantitative abilities, excellent problem solving skills * Driven by an attuned sense of priority and urgency * Trained in working with project tracking software (e.g. JIRA, Rally, MS Project), Salesforce, publishing tools, and enterprise-wide Content Management Systems (CMS) * Interested in learning everything about MongoDB * MongoDB, Inc. provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.* Mongodb New York City NY
