The Sensory Project Leader performs research activities and document results to develop improved and new products and solutions with-in flavor and food ingredients categories, according to our goals and corporate strategy

We are looking for a junior profile with a good knowledge in sensory and consumer science and statistics

You will be part of a global R&D team of Sensory and Consumer Scientists, and support a culture of innovation aligned with the needs while also supporting a research portfolio.

Your Title: Sensory Scientist

Your Location: Cincinnati, Ohio or Kemptthal,Switzerland (Onsite at preferred location)

Reporting to: Sensory and Applications Director S&T

Main Responsibilities:

Project Execution:

• Based on project objective and testing needs, recommend approaches and collaborate with team and Sensory Science project manager(s) & panel leader(s) to deliver appropriate results.

• Accomplish tasks aligned with the project or team goals, following the best practices

• Help plan technical projects

Data Collection and Analysis:

• Work with applications teams to coordinate preparation of products for panel and validate products for Sensory testing.

• Prescreen products, plan number of sessions needed, advise on product evaluation.

• Prepare computer designs for data collection and to implement studies.

• Maintain accurate records of all Sensory testing in relevant system.

• Conduct standard statistical analysis, interpret results, write topline reports and share results to internal and external customers

Sensory Innovation:

• Help develop new protocols for evaluations to answer testing goals and contribute to development of new Sensory and Consumer methods and technologies.

Prioritization and Management:

• Ensure appropriate use of available resources

• Contributes to a culture of Givaudan, information sharing, collaboration and relationships within the department, and with all relevant groups within and outside of S&T.

• Collaborate on projects cross-regionally.

Required Skills and background:

• Bachelor's degree in food science, psychology, neuroscience, and market research with an emphasis in sensory science + 2 years job experience; or Masters degree in food science, psychology, neuroscience, and market research with an emphasis in sensory science.

• Very good understanding of the foundations of Sensory and Consumer methodologies including descriptive, discriminant test-ing, and common consumer testing

• Understanding of the basic scientific laboratory procedures

• Experience leading panels including descriptive, consumer or quality control

• Competent in traditional sensory, consumer, and statistical softwares (Compusense, Fizz, Xlstat).

• Programming skills (R, Matlab/VBA)

• Can interpret experimental analytical results and brainstorm next round of experiments with some guidance

• Demonstrate knowledge of statistical approaches applied to sensory and consumer projects.

• Have understanding of project management philosophy and processes.

• Taste all food and beverage products, and work with smells and taste

• Fluent in English.
