Job Summary
We are looking for a Senior Scientist/Scientist to join our Immunology group to help drive key Immunology programs. The candidate must be independent, goal oriented, technically competent and able to efficiently work across multiple projects. We are searching for enthusiastic, innovative, and highly motivated individuals, with deep scientific background in immunology, cancer immunotherapy, and/or autoimmune diseases, who are comfortable working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
  • Work closely with a team of scientists in the Discovery teams to drive key Immunology projects
  • Design and execute experiments for in vitro immune assays, in vivo studies, and ex vivo assays
  • Phenotyping immune populations, sample preparation for in vivo studies, sample analysis
  • Independent data analysis and proper electronic notebook record keeping
  • Communication of experimental plans and data to multiple cross-functional scientific teams
  • Support the continued protection, creation, and expansion of companys intellectual property
  • Assist in maintaining a strong, entrepreneurial and creative culture with a clear sense of urgency and focus on providing transformational therapies to patients
Experience & Qualifications
  • Ph.D. degree in biology, immunology, biochemistry, bioengineering or related discipline and 2+ years of relevant laboratory experience, pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry preferred
  • Deep knowledge of immunology and systematic approach to understanding mechanism
  • Research background in cancer immunotherapy or autoimmune disease
  • Strong experimental skills, including tissue culture, primary immune cell culture, flow cytometry, ELISA, immunoassay development, and in vivo model development
  • Passionate about working at the bench to independently contribute to research directions and solve challenging issues
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working with highly technical projects and personnel
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver conclusive results
  • Highly adaptable and responsive to delivering on challenging commitments
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Team oriented with strong work ethic

Job Description OBJECTIVES: * Responsible for the design, execution, analysis and interpretation of well-defined studies contributing to vaccine discovery and development projects * Identify and establish new methods for testing immunogenicity, efficacy and safety of candidate vaccines, including new methods for detailed characterization of immune responses, * Contribute to multidisciplinary vaccine development teams, coordinate activities with other team members, and manage activities of research associates. * Summarize results and conclusions in study reports and present data at internal meetings and scientific conferences ACCOUNTABILITIES: * Design, plan and execute studies to test immunogenicity, efficacy and safety of viral vaccines * Develop and implement novel methods for detailed analysis of cellular immune responses to candidate vaccines. * Analyze and interpret study results and make recommendations to project teams . * Supervise and guide research associates in the execution of vaccine discovery projects and evaluate their performance. * Participate on multifunctional project teams including liason with internal partners, timeline management and project status reporting. * Liaison with external collaborators/consultants to advance projects effectively. * Maintain accurate, complete, and timely data in laboratory notebooks. * Prepare technical reports, summaries, and power point presentations for distribution and/or presentation to project teams and management, and for inclusion in project reports. * Present at internal and external scientific meetings. * Other duties as assigned EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: * PhD in Microbiology, Virology, Immunology or related discipline with at least 4 years post-doctoral experience. M.S. in Microbiology, Virology or Immunology with at least 6 years experience, or B.S. in Microbiology, Virology or Immunology with at least 8 years experience. * Knowledge in virological and immunological principles and methods as they relate to vaccine development. * Experience in novel methods for characterization of cellular immune responses, and ability to investigate and apply new methods and technologies for project advancement. * Experience in animal models of infectious disease and vaccine safety testing is desirable * Vaccine industry experience and working knowledge of GLP is preferred * Maintain current knowledge related to the field of molecular and cellular immunology, and vaccine research and development relevant to the vaccine pipeline. * Be well organized and detail oriented, effectively prioritize, eager to learn, interact cooperatively and effectively with others in a team environment, and consistently demonstrate reliability and responsibility. * Possess excellent oral and written communication skills. * Possess advanced Microsoft Office, data entry, data presentation and analysis, computer skills and biostatistical analysis. * Demonstrated ability to effectively work in teams, both departmental, cross-functional, and external and ability to lead meetings effectively. * Ability to supervise and mentor/develop others. * Comply with Takeda safety practices and standard operating procedures * Exhibit and promote Takeda Core Competencies.
