Company info

NewLimit is a biotechnology company working to radically extend human healthspan. We're developing medicines to treat age-related diseases by reprogramming the epigenome, a new therapeutic mechanism to restore regenerative potential in aged and diseased cells. We leverage functional genomics, pooled perturbation screening, and machine learning models to unravel the biology of epigenetic aging and disease using experiments of unprecedented scale.

Description

NewLimit is seeking a Senior/Research Associate with experience in liver biology and metabolism to join our Metabolism team. Our Metabolism team is developing reprogramming medicines to restore youthful function in aged hepatocytes in the context of metabolic disease.

In this role, you will perform in vivo and ex vivo assays for hepatocyte function and collaborate with our Epigenetic Editing and Single Cell Technology teams to deliver reprogramming factors to hepatocytes and measure their phenotypic effects.

What you'll do

  • Collaborate with our Single Cell Technology, Epigenetic Editing, and Predictive Modeling teams to design, build, and test epigenetic reprogramming interventions for aged and diseased hepatocytes

  • Isolate murine and human hepatocytes using perfusion, FACS, and gradient based approaches

  • Reprogram hepatocytes ex vivo and in vivo

  • Perform experiments in pre-clinical liver disease animal models

  • Perform functional and phenotypic assays to evaluate the effects of reprogramming on hepatocyte biology

Requirements

  • BS in cell biology, endocrinology, molecular biology, or a related natural science and 2+ years of work experience in a cell/molecular biology laboratory (academic or industry setting) or PhD in cell biology, endocrinology, molecular biology, or a related field

  • Proficiency in animal handling and husbandry techniques for rodent models (mice or rats)

  • Proficiency with mammalian cell culture

  • Exceptional organizational skills, as demonstrated by detailed record-keeping in lab notebook and an ability to effectively carry out multiple ongoing projects or experiments

Nice to have

  • Proficiency in molecular biology and molecular cloning methods

  • Experience working with mouse models of liver dysfunction

  • Experience with ex vivo culture and manipulation of hepatocytes

  • Experience with single cell genomics methods
