Leidos has an opening for a Senior WindowsServer Systems Administrator with experience managing VMWare Servers and VMWareEnvironments to support the ESA IV program. ESA IV is an IT Services programsupporting several customers within the Department of Justice. The programprovides a range of IT services, including help desk, deskside support, Windowsworkstation engineering and maintenance, Windows Server, managed printservices, ITSM, Active Directory services, and video conferencing, amongothers.
This position requires an engineer to assist with the changeprocess and incident response process:
Change Process: Must be able to support requirements from acustomer and to maintain Windows Platform solutions in test and production.This work may be done independently or as part of a team. Performs technicalplanning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk,supportability, and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Candidate shouldhave experience with the latest Windows Server Administration tools. The position requires candidate to be able to produce andreview technical documentation.
Incident Response: Troubleshoot Windows-related serviceissues including outages, anomalous behavior, and slow response class ofproblems. Outages may be on critical systems and candidates must be able towork methodically through these stressful events. Must be able to providerecommendations to optimize Windows operation and performance
The individual selected for this position will be a memberof the Windows Platform Services Team and will be assigned to work full time ata customer site in Washington, DC. This individual will provide VMware ServerSystems Administrator Services and manage, operate and maintain Windows and VMWareservers at the customer site.
Solid hands-on knowledge of Windows and VMWare serveradministration is required for this position.
This position requires:
12 + years relevant work experience as a Windowssystems administrator with an IT equipment vendor, service provider, or a datacenter
Document all platform service processes andprocedures and maintain the artifacts in a document repository;
Perform systems operation support, includingserver system administration, general troubleshooting, and troubleshooting ofcomplex engineering issues for hardware, software, and network components;
Participate in disaster recovery (DR) planningand execution in support of customer requirements;
Support data center consolidation efforts;
Provide expertise and assistance in migrationsto managed service(s); and
Design, build, and test application upgradeswithin specified timeframes.
Manage and maintain Windows and VMWare serversin the customer data centers; work directly with customers as required toensure their needs are met
Work in a rapid paced environment and workindependently
Maintain the smooth operation of a multi-usercomputer systems, including coordination with other administrators, customersand engineers
Set up administrator and service accounts, tunesystem performance, install system wide software
Interact with users and evaluate vendor products
Evaluate hardware and software, with the goal ofimproving and increasingly automating operations
Develop and monitor policies and standards forallocation related to the use of computing resources
Create, maintain, and implement detaileddocumentation and maintain standard operating procedures
Apply security settings and other commercialsecurity best practices
Provide support on a M-F business hoursschedule; also responsible for on-call, extended hour, and weekend support asrequired by mission or emergency situations.
The ideal candidate will be personable and articulate, andwill focus on making sure that the customer's IT needs are met quickly andeffectively. He or she will be a self-starter who can work with limitedsupervision. Maintain and administer a multi-site, multi-farmVMWare environment, which hosts the Windows server on-premises infrastructureusing VMWare vSphere 5.5 and newer.
Maintain and administer a multi-region,multi-VNet environment, which hosts Windows and Linux servers in the MicrosoftAzure Cloud IaaS environment;
Senior Level Responsibilities related tomaintaining production with reliable and stable operations that includes butnot limited to Senior level understanding of Windows Services and Servers, VMWareServices and Servers, Advanced Troubleshooting, and advanced Windows Servercommunications and hosting within Azure Cloud Environments.
Maintain the VMWare vSphere infrastructure
Establish, maintain, and monitor VMWareReplicator jobs
