Code42 is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing team, focusing on front-end web development. We're looking for people with a passion for world-class software development who understand the importance of maintainable code and comprehensive tests, and who will help Code42 protect and secure our customers' data. As an engineer at Code42 you'll be working on challenging problems in scalability, security, and new feature development. You might be a good fit if you enjoy participating in or leading design sessions in front of a whiteboard, implementing a pragmatic solution to a sticky problem, or digging into a stack trace from a failed test.   • Designing and implementing front-end JavaScript that powers the Code42 web applications, using libraries such as React, taking into account functional requirements as well as non-functional requirements such as scalability, robustness, monitoring, supportability, and testability

  • Collaborating with teammates throughout the product development organization including product owners, UI/UX designers, QA analysts and engineers, technical writers, and customer champions

  • Verifying the correctness of your implementations by writing automated tests

  • Documenting code and design and reviewing others' work products

  • Synthesizing requirements into cohesive designs, identifying gaps and contradictions

  • Participating in agile story authoring, sizing, and demo sessions for product features

  • Participating in team design discussions and code reviews, asking questions, contributing and accepting feedback

  • Mentoring and guiding more junior staff

  • Contributing to process improvement efforts within engineering

  • Continuously learning about technology and software development, and sharing knowledge with the team


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience

  • 5 to 8 years professional software development experience, or can convincingly demonstrate this level of knowledge and skill

  • Experience with front-end development for enterprise-class, multi-tier systems and the design patterns upon which they are built

  • Experience in JavaScript/ECMAScript 2015 and the primary libraries of the team

  • Experience working with RESTful web APIs

  • Experience taking ownership of deliverables as part of a team

  • Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment concepts

  • Familiarity with working in an agile, collaborative environment, both offering and asking for help when it's needed


  • Experience with the tools that comprise our tech stack; the more of these you know, the better:

  • Languages: Typescript

  • Libraries: React, Redux

  • CSS Preprocessors: Sass, Less

  • Tools: Webpack, Node.js, Mocha

  • Development Infrastructure: Git, Jira, Jenkins

  • Experience giving and receiving productive feedback using a pull request process

  • Experience with cloud environments like AWS or Azure

  • Real-world examples of production-quality work you've done in the past


  • Active in the local tech community

  • Have an active GitHub profile

  • Have contributed to open-source software

This role uses best practices and patterns to perform design, development using Java, Springboot, Hibernate. An individual in this role is also expected to perform automated testing and unit testing using Katalon and JUnit, while performing automated deployments of software modules using a Continuous Integration Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools pipeline. Duties also include participating in daily scrums, performing software requirements analysis, risk identification, risk mitigation, and collaboration across Agile teams. Flexible cross-training to also provide systems engineering, software development, training, security, and testing is also desired. Primary Responsibilities * Participate in software programming initiatives to support innovation and enhancement, using Java, Hibernate, SpringBootDeveloping and directing software system validation and testing methods using Junit and Katalon. * Experience incorporating facets and variables of biometric data to include facial, fingerprint and iris data into an integrated platform. * Participate in the development of documentation. * Coordinate closely with customers, Scrum Masters, and cross-functional areas to communicate project statuses and initiatives. * Analyze data to effectively coordinate the installation of new systems or modifications to existing systems. * Support the Agile software development lifecycle. * Use of industry leading tools like GitHub, Jenkins, Unix bash scripting, Ruby on Rails, Oracle, Git, HTML, Spring, and Tomcat. * Perform systems software development, including deployment of build artifacts across different environments leverage GitFlow constructs. * Communicate key project data to team members and build team cohesion and effectiveness. * Develop and execute project plans. Leverage Atlassian tool suite like JIRA and Confluence to track activities. * Apply best practices and standard operating procedures. * Create innovative solutions to meet the technical needs of customers. * Candidate must have Bachelors with 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience.
