Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a Senior Wastewater Process Engineer to join our Water Business Unit. This role will lead and support multidisciplinary teams to undertake planning, analysis, pilot testing and design of wastewater treatment systems throughout North America and the globe. This position will be closely aligned primarily with the regional water business needs and connected to the Global Wastewater Practice with project opportunities locally, nationally and globally.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Concept stage design, pilot studies, feasibility and root cause analysis

  • Front end (concept and preliminary) engineering design

  • Detailed design support

  • Technical support and construction supervisor where and when appropriate

  • Commissioning and handover

  • Site based investigation work during all stages of design including process monitoring, operational performance review and process optimization

  • Leading a Process design team to complete scopes of work within agreed time frames and to budget

  • Acting as Process Engineer and Process Lead for the design for small/medium/large wastewater projects

  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality planning and design projects

  • Developing and maintain excellent relationship with the other discipline engineers and leads on the projects

  • Mentoring and development of process graduates and junior staff as part of project work

  • Data gathering through desk top study and site work, data analysis and interpretation

  • Liaising with our Clients and other design team members

  • Assisting the Project Manager (PM) with Process issues

  • Checking and reviewing the work of peers and junior staff

  • Maintaining an up to date knowledge of developments in wastewater treatment technologies

  • Actively looking to develop new process opportunities to develop the wastewater process team and win work

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Extensive experience in the analysis and design of wastewater infrastructure from feasibility stage through detailed design including development of system models (biological processes, chemical processes, hydraulic responses, etc.) piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), process control philosophies and detailed process calculations.

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams on process focused jobs as Process Lead or Technical Lead

  • Extensive experience in ensuring the quality of process design input on projects in the Wastewater Industry

  • Ability to lead a team of process engineers to develop and mentor the group

  • Experience in leading the Process design of small/medium or large projects

  • Proven ability to work as part of a team, liaising directly with Client and other project team members

  • Must be self-motivated individual possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks

  • Experience in providing construction support services, where and when appropriate, such as change in field conditions resolution, representing agencies at field meetings and observation of construction

Education and Experience

Possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmentall or Chemical Engineering. Masters or PhD preferred. Must have a minimum of 15 years of experience in engineering analysis and design of wastewater systems.

Licensed Professional Engineer.

Typical office environment working with computers and sitting at a desk. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
