The Senior Virtualization Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of the virtual infrastructure focusing on the Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop platform. The candidate should be experienced in supporting multi-vendor virtualization technologies and server hardware environments. The candidate should also display the ability to work in a large scale, fast paced, and cross-functional team environment.

  • Perform system administration of the virtual infrastructure including VMware, Citrix, Cisco, and other technologies.
  • Provide Tier III support for the virtual infrastructure by investigating and troubleshooting incidents and issues to resolution and providing well documented status updates.
  • Provide day to day support for the virtual infrastructure including new system delivery, preventative maintenance, and proactive availability.
  • Performance and capacity monitoring and reporting.
  • Managing and ensuring that ticket queues are being properly addressed in the time outlined by SLA’s.
  • Participate in establishing and maintaining policies and procedures.
  • Participate in Change Management, Problem Management, and Incident Management calls.
  • Participate in 24 x 7 On-Call rotation as scheduled.
  • Perform other job related duties as requested.

Required:

  • Four year college degree in Information Systems/Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field or equivalent education and experenece.
  • At least 4 years experience of Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop administration.
  • At least 2 years in a technical role in a large enterprise environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.

Preferred:

  • At least 2 years experience of VMware vSphere administration.
  • At least 2 years experience of Cisco UCS administration.
  • VMware Certified Professional Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV).
  • Cisco Certification (Data Center Unified Computing).
  • Citrix Certified Associate - Virtualization (CCA-V) certification.
  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.

This position is for a Senior Virtualization Engineer supporting the MGM Resorts International VMware, Citrix, Cisco UCS, and Dell-EMC virtual infrastructure environments. This individual will contribute to future virtual infrastructure designs, have responsibility for influencing direction, and delivering on projects assignments by collaborating with multiple cross functional IT teams. This individual is expected to possess the ability to manage project initiatives, exhibit strong communications and collaboration skills, along with strong technical VMware management background. The role requires the individual to perform infrastructure installation and implementation activities, manage systems configuration changes, provisioning, performance management tasks, maintain software/hardware currency levels and oversee the health and stability of the supported virtual infrastructure platforms. This individual will also be expected to resolve highly-complex technical issues and be fully accountable for all virtual infrastructure systems which support MGM's Global Infrastructure. * Monitor and manage virtual infrastructure platforms and their associated components verifying the integrity and availability of all software and hardware resources * Provide technical expertise on projects, ensuring project activities are accurately and successfully delivered * Displays the ability to collaborate with Project Management, Architecture, Applications Support, Development teams and leadership along with participation in technology roadmaps & fiscal budgeting processes * Represent Systems Engineering in a positive manner, espousing the department's vision, mission and business direction to both internal and external customers * Demonstrate high level of knowledge in virtual infrastructure experience and experience successfully completing complex project assignments * Display original thinking in applying principles, theories, and concepts on a wide range of problems * Provide support for vendor-provided management software supporting a virtual infrastructure. * The ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment with minimal supervision to achieve project milestones and deadlines * Managing and ensuring that ticket queues are being properly addressed in the time outlined by SLA's * Research promising new technologies; investigates how those technologies might be implemented to improve MGM virtualization services * Participate in 24 x 7 On-Call rotation as scheduled * Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.
