The Senior Virtualization Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of the virtual infrastructure focusing on the Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop platform. The candidate should be experienced in supporting multi-vendor virtualization technologies and server hardware environments. The candidate should also display the ability to work in a large scale, fast paced, and cross-functional team environment.

  • Perform system administration of the virtual infrastructure including VMware, Citrix, Cisco, and other technologies.
  • Provide Tier III support for the virtual infrastructure by investigating and troubleshooting incidents and issues to resolution and providing well documented status updates.
  • Provide day to day support for the virtual infrastructure including new system delivery, preventative maintenance, and proactive availability.
  • Performance and capacity monitoring and reporting.
  • Managing and ensuring that ticket queues are being properly addressed in the time outlined by SLA’s.
  • Participate in establishing and maintaining policies and procedures.
  • Participate in Change Management, Problem Management, and Incident Management calls.
  • Participate in 24 x 7 On-Call rotation as scheduled.
  • Perform other job related duties as requested.


  • Four year college degree in Information Systems/Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field or equivalent education and experenece.
  • At least 4 years experience of Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop administration.
  • At least 2 years in a technical role in a large enterprise environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.


  • At least 2 years experience of VMware vSphere administration.
  • At least 2 years experience of Cisco UCS administration.
  • VMware Certified Professional Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV).
  • Cisco Certification (Data Center Unified Computing).
  • Citrix Certified Associate - Virtualization (CCA-V) certification.
  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.

The Lead Virtualization Engineer is a multifaceted position, being responsible for the mentoring and leadership of personnel, and the demanding up-time of corporate and production systems. This position will primarily be responsible for all of the planning, design, and hands on implementation, maintenance, automation, and repair of a VMware, Cisco UCS, and Netapp solutions. The ideal candidate has experience with vSphere systems architecture, automation, scripting, and networking to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve incident tickets as well as leading projects. As a Lead Virtualization Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting a large number of IT Systems which include but not limited to the infrastructure supporting all of our virtual servers and the hardware on which they run. Our technology stack is a mix of open source and commercial off-the-shelf. This team-based position works closely with Windows/Linux Systems Engineering, Software Development, DevOps, Quality Assurance, Information Security, and Project Management teams in order to maintain and enhance our existing processes. Candidates should have prior experience working in a large, fast-paced, enterprise environment working with multi-disciplinary teams. Minimum Requirements Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Must be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986. Must pass a Criminal Background Check. No visa sponsorship available for this position. Education: Master's Degree Education Other: Computer Science, Information Technology or related field. Certification: Yes Certification Other: VMware Certified Professional (VCAP), VMware Certified Implementation Expert (VCIX) or VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX) required. Years of Experience: Eight (8) or more years of experience with MVware VSphere design and implementation, Windows, Linux, or MacOS in a mixed environment, as well as, at least five (5) years of experience with Cisco UCS, and netApp systems design and implementation required. Preferred Requirements * Design, implement, and support the core back end/internal facing IT infrastructure, which includes development and operation teams. * Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical problems relating to virtual systems, infrastructure, and related applications. * Perform maintenance/upgrades to applications and systems. * Deployment of new technology while adhering to best practice. * Develop, automate, and implement operations best practices. * Perform tuning of critical infrastructure, servers, and services. * Follow incident, problem, crisis, and change management processes. * Work with IT teams to assist and support enterprise IT infrastructure. * Assist in the daily management of IT personnel, team member PTO requests, performance reviews, and fostering of team work & cohesion. * Assist with the proper management of departmental resources to facilitate internal and business projected needs is also a key aspect of the daily duties. * Keeps an open line of communication to report daily and/or weekly to upper management on the status of the team's projects/tasks, and or any system break/fix issues that may have occurred. * Operational and Production Support – Ensure operational up-time of corporate and production systems essential to Allegiant and its customers. * Production and SDLC Compute Hardware & Virtual Abstraction Management – This includes the architecture, oversight, responsibility, and capacity planning of all physical and virtual compute resources that are relied upon by DEV, DevOps, DBA, Linux Systems, and Corporate users. * New Technology – Another one of the responsibility of the Virtualization Lead is to stay current with technology and research new technologies that might benefit Allegiant in the future. * Budget management –This position will require close interaction with the department head and third-party vendors to prepare for the annual budget schedule. Also ensure that all purchases are within the approved budgeted numbers. * Managing third party relations - Allegiant makes use of different third-party services. * The Virtualization Lead is responsible for engaging, and maintaining a positive relationship with our contracted, and non-contract vendors, and ensures that the third party properly executes the agreed terms and conditions. * Serve as an escalation point for issues involving Infrastructure systems (VMware, UCS and NetApp). * Other duties as assigned.
