Basic Purpose

To lead a large and distributed branch and ATM network across the globe. To develop, oversee and execute operational strategies and develop a program for member service excellence in the branch environment. Leads innovation initiatives with other channels to transform branch service delivery and integration efforts. Acts as a change advocate in delivering new service capabilities and is a strong collaborator with other business units. Provides the leadership and management necessary to effectively support organizational growth, and ensures operating efficiencies supporting exceptional member service. Ability to travel to visit the branch network and review

future acquisition locations is required.


  • Leads and directs all aspects of retail banking operational activities. Responsibilities include:

  • Implementation and sustainability of member satisfaction initiatives to improve customer experience in alignment with strategic and operational objectives of the company.

  • Developing a long range branch plan to grow membership, serve members, grow deposits, and deliver solutions to complex member challenges. Identify and evaluate markets to optimize Navy Federal's branch and ATM presence.

  • Creates and executes a comprehensive Branch and ATM strategy to optimize member service points.

  • Motivates and leads a high performing team, providing leadership and management to the service organization, Vice Presidents and Regional Managers.

  • Leads efforts with other business units to deliver a consistent and seamless experience across all channels.

  • Develops and implements key operational strategies to improve service quality, overall member experience, financial results, and new member acquisition.

  • Provides leadership and development of the branch operations team through teaching, training, employee engagement, succession planning, and mentorship programs.

  • Develops and measures the effectiveness of all operational processes. Provides timely, accurate, and complete reports on the operating environment.

  • Establishes strategic goals in alignment with organizational priorities: implements short and long-range organizational goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates program effectiveness; effects changes required for improvement.

  • Actively participates with the management council team, and supports other department's initiatives. Thrives working in a cross functional environment.

  • Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish goals and objectives; recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating branch staff.

  • Participates in and directs working teams related to mergers, acquisitions, and novations.

  • Maintains a positive and caring atmosphere for members and employees consistent with Navy Federal's mission and philosophy.

  • Ensures compliance and operational risk controls are in accordance with Navy Federal and regulatory standards and policies; optimizes relations with regulators by addressing issues.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Significant experience in senior leadership for large distributed financial operations

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related major

  • Demonstrated ability to generate and execute strategies across an organization and geographical locations across the globe

  • Ability to develop, foster, and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of people within the organization as well as with external customers and vendors

  • Highly skilled executing large, multi-functional and cross-organizational assignments

  • Strong research, analysis, and problem solving skills

  • Experience with financial and member service operations to include a deep understanding of effective member service philosophies

  • Strong, developed leadership abilities, including senior leadership experience in military service

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication, presentation and facilitation skills

Projects are larger, more complex and vary in scope. This is usually a Player/Coach role. Responsibilities: * Assumes a lead role in the development and execution of strategy for a team. * Contributes to the development of the business unit's overall strategy. * Represents Business unit in local, regional, and national industry/public forums and with clients as a senior representative of the Firm. * Demonstrates high energy for the business, ability to energize others, and the willingness to take risks and make tough decisions. * Oversee project implementation and execution through completion of construction. * Financial management of entire project: establish & manage project budgets (including hard and soft costs), maintain monthly forecasts and cash flow analysis, prepare anticipated cost reports and any other reports as required by the client. * Provide construction cost/benefit analysis as required. * Projects may also be ground-up.
