The Senior Vice President, Business Development develops and maintains relationships with large, complex custodians and RIAs to drive sales and ensure the attainment of mutually beneficial long-term goals. The position requires in-depth knowledge of annuities, mutual funds, separate accounts and ETF products; financial markets and competitive landscape; product performance and investment management philosophy, manager search and selection process.
The position reports to the EVP, Strategic Accounts.
Develops and coordinates multi-product strategic relationships with executives and key product and platform managers; research analysts; marketing and wealth management professionals.
Leverages AIG's senior management appropriately to further enhance the partnership between AIG and the strategic partners.
Manages and coordinates AIG resources and external client firm resources to ensure execution and delivery of firm specific projects, campaigns and conferences.
Maintains working knowledge of marketing campaigns, website functionality, and AIG's value-add offerings.
Business Development and Management
Acts as a strategic contributor by providing a top/down view of best opportunities by firm, identifying mutually beneficial and appropriate opportunities for each partner.Align client needs with AIG's Strategic Growth Initiatives.
Identifies and develops prospects for new business including high producing advisors.Communicates opportunities to the EVP, Strategic Accounts and National Sales Manager.
Obtains and disseminates firm intelligence to home office and wholesalers resulting in improved sales execution.
Partners with National/Divisional Sales Managers in order to maintain and grow existing strategic relationships with selling groups, centers of influence at assigned firms.
May have management responsibilities and oversight of Strategic Account Manager(s) and/or Strategic Account Associate(s).
Reporting and Analysis
Assists in the development and execution of business plans designed to increase assets, revenue and market share.
Maintains extensive working knowledge of each firm including total product sales, competitive information, systems, platforms, key initiatives, trends etc. and communicates information in periodic reports to management.
Compiles and maintains timely information on activity with Broker-Dealers through Salesforce.
Prepares quarterly activity and sales reports for assigned firms and distributes to clients if requested.
Maintains up-to-date pipeline report in assigned firms tracking approval and implementation of new distribution opportunities.
Administration and Communication
Facilitates initial and updated agreements between AIG and assigned firms including selling agreements, addendums, marketing agreements, etc.
Timely maintenance of internal documents meant to provide transparency to internal constituents.Coordinates, tracks, and reports on invitations and firm approvals for Due Diligence and Sales meeting attendees for assigned firms.
Introduces new product ideas and manufacturing capabilities to procure appropriate client solutions.
Secures product approvals/shelf space and influences assigned strategic accounts to support activities designed to generate sales of AIG products.
Identifies opportunities in assigned accounts for additional AIG products; communicates with counterparts for appropriate products and assists with initial implementation.
The Senior Vice President, Business Development needs to demonstrate prior accomplishments in external sales or account management with a minimum of 10 years of external client-facing experience. Extensive travel required.
The preferred candidate will also have:
Bachelor's degree required; degree in business or finance preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills
Proficiency in written and oral communication
Experience and comfort in presenting to large groups
Good presentation, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong financial acumen and ability to think strategically
Ability to work autonomously
FINRA Series 6 or 7, 63 and required Life/Health licenses
