At Intel Studios the Volumetric Production Engineering team is working in the cutting edge of Volumetric Immersive Video. Technology now plays an unprecedented role in media... and we're just getting started. Immersive entertainment requires the high-performance computing Intel is known for, and it's also data driven - fueling the continued build out of the cloud. For storytellers, media creators and artist, the ability to capture, analyze and share data adds compelling new dimensions to the experience. Intel plans to scale this new category for entertainment that we call immersive media, which is attracting the attention of producers, directors and content creators.

What you'll do

As a Senior/Principal Engineer at Intel Studios, you will work with our engineering, research, and post-production teams to implement and advance novel computer vision and computational imaging algorithms, develop tools for automating complex workflows for manipulating volumetric data, and create visualization for efficiently manipulating volumetric data for delivery through immersive experiences. You will work in domains such as, but not limited to: image processing, pattern recognition, video rendering, computer vision, object and human/object tracking.

You Will Also

  • Implement and extend complex image processing and computer vision algorithms, with a strong emphasis on implementation and coding.

  • Create algorithms and software solutions to help automate complex volumetric-specific workflows within various post-production teams.

  • Write software plugins for Nuke, Maya and Houdini.

  • Work with cloud operations team to write tools for volumetric processing

  • Work closely with post production artists to identify requirements for new tooling.

  • Write applications and visual effects plugins for efficiently visualizing and interacting with volumetric data (ie. 3D geometry and point cloud data).

  • Provide technical leadership and project management for larger software projects

  • Develop tooling for immersive applications (AR/VR).

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree or higher in Math, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related degree. Alternatively, MFA degree with experience 2+ years experience writing code for VFX industry.
  • 5+ years software development experience
  • 2+ years experience designing and implementing algorithms for 3D reconstruction, SLAM, image segmentation, rendering, or other VFX related topics.
  • 3+ years academic research or industry experience in software engineering
  • 2+ years experience in C++ and object-oriented software development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Comfortable working in Linux environment with open source tools.

  • Experience in VFX industry or PhD in related field.

  • Experience with multi-core and/or grid computing.

  • Experience with writing GPU code (CUDA / OpenCL).

  • Ability to scale goals and complexity depending on the time and resources available for each project.

  • Spoken English and good communication skills.

  • Good problem solving and decision-making skills.

The Lead VFX Concept Artist works closely with VFX Producers and VFX Supervisors to assign and review artist's work whilst taking responsibility for the sign off of final concepts. Qualifications Technical Knowledge/Skills: ● Photoshop, Keyshot, 3D Package (3D Studios Max), and Maya knowledge. ● Solid knowledge of VFX shot production and its iteration process. ● Thorough understanding of colour theory and film application for live-action features, including film-stock, film-grain, colour-space and lookup tables, film processing and DI processing. ● Up-to-date knowledge of VFX tools and emerging technologies. ● Matte painting experience is an asset. Experience: ● 5+ years of experience with high-end film based VFX pipelines as a VFX Concept Artist, or extensive experience as a Senior, Lead or Supervising artist.
