Senior UX Researcher (Quantitative + Mixed Methods)

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the PlayStation Platform Experience Research Team. We are seeking an exceptional Senior UX Researcher to join our interdisciplinary team, part of the Platform Experience Group. You'll join a unique team that is tasked to explore new ways to transform and diversify our business into new areas with a focus on new customers needing new solutions, while remaining true to PlayStation's central mission. In this role, you will be leading innovation research projects in collaboration with Product Management, Design, Engineering and other partners. You are an upbeat advocate of a user-centered and insights-based approach to innovation strategy and development. You are proactive and self-motivated to drive innovation, striking the right balance of rigor and speed. We are seeking a strong performer in all aspects of UX Research, with a specialization in Market Research and Quantitative Methods. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in research, a keen interest in emerging technologies and trends, and a passion for fostering a culture of innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the exploration and evaluation of new ideas, technologies, and trends relevant to the company's products and services.

  • Lead end-to-end research efforts, from market analysis and generative research, to value prop and concept testing of early concepts and top of the funnel ideas.

  • Analyze and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data to derive practical insights and recommendations toward innovative solutions.

  • Assess the potential impact and viability of new technologies, products, or services, and present findings in a concise and compelling manner.

  • Develop and/or implement research methodologies and strategies, from market and competitive analysis to trend forecasting, to inform decision-making and prioritize innovation initiatives.

  • Implement targeted innovation investigations, including methods to uncover Product-Market Fit, Value Chain Analysis and Willingness to Pay.

  • Be responsible for the work of vendors and researcher partners on large ad-hoc and recurring quantitative research programs.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including designers, developers, and product managers, to ensure alignment to and understanding of research insights.

  • Contribute to a culture of open-mindedness, risk-taking, and continuous learning within the Innovation Research team, driving curiosity, creativity, and adaptability.

  • Collaborate closely with peers from UX Research, Consumer Insights, Product Analytics, and Business Intelligence.

  • Manage multiple programs simultaneously across the innovation portfolio, ensuring timely delivery.

  • Act as a coach and mentor on Quantitative Research techniques to researchers and cross functional partners. Push them toward innovative and creative thinking when approaching research challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, such as Human-Computer Interaction, Human-Centered Design, Anthropology, Cognitive Science, or Psychology. PhD a plus.

  • 6+ years of proven experience in UX Research, Product research, Design Research, or related fields.

  • Proven track record of driving innovative solutions and delivering impactful results.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.

  • Outstanding knowledge of Market analytics including market sizing, driver analysis and segmentation.

  • Experience executing research to inform business model design, including methods such as Willingness to Pay, Choice Modeling and Max Diff.

  • Proficiency in quantitative methods (e.g. survey design and implementation, benchmarking, A/B and multivariate experiments, statistical analysis, modeling, reporting, behavioral analytics, etc.)

  • Proficiency in SPSS, R, Python, or similar modeling language.

  • Methodical and organized approach to competitive analysis and trend research

  • Solid knowledge of industry-standard UX research methods including ethnographic, evaluative methods, and quantitative research methods.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and insights to diverse audiences.

  • Extensive experience providing deep insights through compelling visualization and storytelling through data. A keen eye for distilling data in enticing outputs such as Infographics, User Personas, Mental Model Maps, Experience Maps, User-flows, etc.

  • Passion for translating findings into strategic product and design recommendations

  • An entrepreneurial approach and a passion for driving innovation in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Prior experience working at a startup, innovation lab, creative agency, or related, a plus.

  • Proficiency in product analytics/telemetry methods and tools, a plus.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role's base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$165,500-$248,300 USD
