The Zillow Experience Design (ZxD) team works collaboratively to solve tough human and business problems with elegant user experiences. We are redefining the experience of buying and selling a home by exceeding customer expectations and scaling the value of internal operators. Alongside product managers, engineers operators and marketing partners, we design services that will define our category. ZxD is a collective of talented design researchers, product designers, content strategists, visual designers and program managers who are keenly focused on the future while delivering quality every day.

About the role

Your role requires a proven track record of applying user-centered innovation to the design of successful mobile and web experiences. You will work closely with product managers, design researchers, fellow designers, data scientists, and engineers - from initial concept and strategy through the execution of design and then product releases. You think strategically and ask big questions that lead to broader opportunities.

As a Senior UX Designer with the team you will:

  • Define the vision for a product or service

  • Design and prototype elegant solutions for mobile and web applications

  • Partner with design leads, product managers on product strategy and definition

  • Identify user needs, sketch solutions with prototypes, test ideas with design researchers, and refine designs with data and user feedback

  • Document detailed interaction models and UI specifications

  • Collaborate with other designers to maintain consistency and coherence across the products

  • Manage your own work from concept to completion

Who you are

  • Have at least 5+ years experience designing digital solutions for customers and/or operators/businesses.

  • An excellent independent contributor who needs little supervision

  • Proficient in user-centered design methods, exploration, storytelling and detailed interaction design

  • Passionate for solving problems from big picture strategy to the tiny details

  • Empathetic and inquisitive. You are Self-motivated, positive, open-minded, with a desire to collaborate and learn

  • Experienced in working on complex issues that require in-depth analysis of multiple factors

  • Someone who enjoys working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

  • An effective communicator who can articulate your ideas across all levels of the organization

  • Have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interaction Design, HCI or similar field

An ideal candidate would be someone who is driven and extremely passionate about the various aspects of User Experience Design across various platforms/mediums, such as mobile and web app platforms, hardware UI, out-of-box experiences, etc. This person must crave ownership and autonomy. At PAX, you get your chance to put your ideas into action in a fast-paced environment and work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, developers, eCommerce, and digital marketing channel owners. This role is at the intersection of cutting-edge physical products, digital products, and design. This UX role is a unique opportunity to build new interactive experiences and engagement models. Moreover, designs get tested at scale and have robust data/analytics driving huge growth. This person must love challenges of operating in a scrutinized space and taking on huge incumbents. Key Responsibilities: * Develop user flows to help articulate screen flows, unboxing steps, etc, to contribute to system requirements * Build out user scenarios and identify key personas (some persona creation activities may be needed) * Support end user research including usability testing, user interviews, and metrics analysis to inform designs * Create detailed specifications of user interface interactions and designs (for packaging, hardware UI, etc) * Create user interface prototypes when necessary Skills and Experience Required: * Must be proficient in Balsamiq, Sketch, InDesign or other wireframing tools * Must be adept with Adobe design suite * Expertise with your chosen tools like Creative Cloud or OmniGraffle and able to craft quick and pleasing prototypes in HTML/JavaScript, Axure, InVision, or similar * Interested in the latest web technologies and design trends * Background knowledge or interest in Usability Testing and User-Centered Design is a plus * Experience working in a fast-paced work environment with a lean, growing team.
