General Summary:

Unum is hiring for Sr. UX Designer that will work with a complex team to identify the customer needs and create an easy to use simple and accessible digital experience for our consumers. This team is a part of our Consumer Journey within Unum, which is designing, building and delivering this new, integrated digital experience; to achieve this we've introduced new thinking, technologies and processes to our organization that allow us to adapt quickly to change. To succeed you will have 5+ years of designing user experiences for interactive website applications, exceptional communication skills, and ability to work on an Agile team with experience with Axure RP, Adobe XD, Sketch, Google Analytics (Lookback), Airtable, and other related software. The successful candidate will need to have some serious Prototyping chops coupled with great visual and interaction design capabilities as well as good research skills, an ability to moderate in a non-biased way and analyze qualitative data.

Job Specifications

  • Degree in a related field, such as Interactive Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, Graphic Design or Human Factors preferred or equivalent, relevant business experience

  • 5 - 7+ years of UX experience designing user experiences and interaction design for rich interactive web sites and/or applications

  • A digital portfolio we can review online is required

  • Be passionate about resolving user pain points through great design.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills - able to present and win approval for concepts from senior leadership.

  • Exceptional user interface and experience design skills and an understanding of user-centered design disciplines and principals, as well as an eye for subtle detail

  • Passion for results - bringing forward new methods or tools to help advance the user experience.

  • The ability to design across all types of communication channels, with a strong focus on native and mobile

  • Familiarity with the value of design systems, understanding reuse and scale, and knowing when to contribute to make them better

  • Expert using Axure RP, and other related software and standard UX software such as Adobe XD, Sketch, Google Analytics (Lookback), Airtable,, OmniGraffle, InVision, UXPin, Balsamiq, Framer, and the like.

  • Ability to work as part of an Agile team and influence business partners, Product Owner, development team on the need for strong UX design

  • A solid understanding of modern web technologies and interaction patterns and experience in designing complex solutions for complete digital environments including mobile-first and responsive design.

  • Insurance background beneficial

  • Experience in participating on project teams and ability to communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions clearly and effectively to teams and clients.

  • Self-starter and detail-oriented, passionate about all things UX and other areas of design and innovation.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help define and oversee the UX process across Unum, ensuring best practices are employed across different teams

  • Develop ideas and suggestions on improvements to the UX for our consumers

  • Works both as a team member on individual UX assignments for most of the time, but will help provide cross-team support, standardization, best practices, and interconnection.

  • Partners with business Product Owner, Marketing roles, Scrum team members, and subject matter experts to support the development of user interfaces that are implementable on the web.

  • Develops user interfaces that will bring an exceptional and consistent user experience across multiple digital platforms that are consistent and reinforcing of the corporate brand.

  • Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that lead to intuitive and excellent user experiences.

  • Facilitate the Product Owner's vision by researching, conceiving, sketching, prototyping, and user-testing experiences for digital products.

  • Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mockups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.

  • Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs.

  • Responsible for pattern and style libraries and keeps them updated and maintained.

  • Creates screen shot mockups and/or prototypes for usability testing and requirements gathering.

  • Ensures that the user experience is applied consistently by overseeing the use of brand guidelines, color, font, icons, and other artifacts, and ensures compliance with Accessibility Standards.

  • Provide feedback to Marketing on Brand standards, guidelines, and direction.

SUMMARY The Covetrus UX Team is looking for a Senior UX Designer who is a strong and empathetic advocate for our veterinary practice partners and pet owners. You'll play a critical role in the development of current and future software products by creating satisfying and compelling experiences and eliciting and drawing on results from user research and workflow analysis. This position focuses on the following product development cycle areas; requirements gathering, user workflows, interface design, information architecture, ongoing user research and testing, measuring the effects of these activities, and using these insights to feedback into the process. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Iterate through the design process where you will create low-fidelity sketches and wireframes, build interactive prototypes, and deliver hi-fidelity designs for responsive applications. * Conduct user-centered research using a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods. * Deliver supporting artifacts for multiple digital strategy engagements, including user flows, experience and customer journey maps, personas, competitive analysis and heuristic evaluations. * Recommend and enact improvements to the team's process, tools, and communications. * Work with product managers to ensure strategic product roadmaps are successfully executed. * Participate in and foster a working environment where creativity, innovation, ownership and teamwork are encouraged and rewarded. * Provide mentor-ship to more junior designers SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES * None QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE * Bachelor's degree in design, HCI or related field.
