This role is compensation grade G4 The Role Nationwide is looking for a Senior User Experience (UX) Visual Designer to join our team focused on innovation efforts to design and launch products, services, and businesses that support our strategic objectives and disrupt the insurance and financial services industry. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the desirability, viability, and feasibility of potential opportunities and product features; and you'll partner closely with engineers to successfully bring these to life in the market. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to participate in a truly human-centered approach to innovation at a large insurance and financial services company. Innovation at Nationwide The Innovation team at Nationwide is focused on driving innovation across the organization. We see it as our role to disrupt the future of Nationwide before anyone else does. We're passionate about inventing or reinventing products, services, businesses, and experiences that solve real customer needs in ways customers can't even imagine. To do so, we take a human-centered approach (aka "design thinking") and see it as our responsibility to make innovation a part of everyone's job. We espouse "innovation through collaboration", believing that it takes diverse teams to achieve better outcomes. Behind all of this is Nationwide's recent commitment to invest more than $100M of venture capital in customer-centric solutions. We are expanding our team and recently opened a new 31,000 square-foot innovation center in Columbus's downtown Arena District. It's an exciting time where Design has a seat at the table, and you can play a key role in helping us drive a return on this investment. Ideal Candidate You will be responsible for ideation, thought leadership and execution across a wide range of products and platforms including all aspects of digital user interface design and brand experience. This includes designing for multi-touch devices, native mobile, and responsive web. You will be passionate and produce brilliant visual design from concept through delivery, while also cultivating that same passion in your fellow designers and inspiring them to deliver the same high-quality work. You should have a deep understanding of the digital landscape and a holistic, user-centered approach to visual design - one that draws on your knowledge of strategy, information architecture, UX best practices, and your understanding of the possibilities and limitations of technology. Your perspective will synthesize research findings with design, enabling you to translate those insights into meaningful, digestible design artifacts. You should be comfortable leading and participating in design workshops, brainstorming, and other idea-generating team sessions. You will be expected to think strategically and tell engaging stories. You will guide your team towards the right solutions by forming compelling and informed persuasive arguments. You will help evangelize a chosen direction, recognizing which battles to fight and the appropriate opportunities to push boundaries. This means you can work within given business constraints and ensure alignment of creative execution to business goals while producing measurable results.
