VIEW JOBS 10/14/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-12T00:00 At Smashing Ideas, we make things that matter. We're a team of creative pioneers partnering with companies around the globe to create groundbreaking digital products and services (think mobile apps, connected devices, websites, etc.). We take complex challenges and use a combination of business strategy, user experience design, and technical aptitude to craft cutting-edge solutions that transform the lives of end-users. Our team is comprised of fun, curious, and brilliantly eccentric individuals collaborating in an environment that nurtures creativity and exploration. Designers at Smashing Ideas are knowledge-seekers, user-champions, and pragmatic dreamers. What excites and unites us is concepting and crafting relevant and meaningful solutions that delight users and clients alike. Senior UX Designer We are seeking a passionate and collaborative Senior UX Designer to join our team and help design the user experience for a wide variety of groundbreaking digital products. The right person for this role will be, first and foremost, passionate about UX design. Sure, you need to have a good understanding of how business strategy, visual design, product ownership, and development play roles in what you do, but you're crazy about understanding needs and contexts to craft flows, information structures, and interactions that excite, inspire, engage, and empower users. This role requires 5 years of experience working in digital UX design and reports to a Creative Director. What You'll Do * Lead and create UX design solutions for one or more projects on one or more platforms or screens. Much of our work is for mobile screens, but also for proprietary screens (think IoT) and responsive web. * Apply excellent UX know-how and experience to analyze user and content requirements, define user flow and information structure, and describe intended user experience through means such as storyboards, experience maps, app/site maps, interactive wireframes, and prototypes. * Participate in immersive user research, research analysis, concept testing, usability testing, and analytics. * Work closely with Strategists to define abstract outputs of value props, user archetypes, experience maps, user flows, and wireframes and partner with Visual Designers to empower them to create beautiful, elegant, exciting, fun, and engaging screen designs, motion studies, and prototypes. * Use tools such as Sketch, Figma, and InVision to communicate design intent to users, stakeholders, and team members. Does This Sound Like You? * Highly collaborative. Not a sole-contributor. Work closely with Strategy, Visual Design, and development teams to ensure that designs are implemented. * Proactive and self-driven. You don't wait. You seek out the information you need and look for help from colleagues when needed. * Constant seeking of feedback, inspiration, and ideas from colleagues, users, clients, and exemplars. * It only works if it works for the user. Your personal preferences from yourself, your teammates, and clients take a backseat. * Work out loud. You show your work when in process because you know exposing it frequently will improve it. * Iterator. You expect your first go-arounds just capture the expected solutions and that the innovative solutions can only be found by repeated digging. * Lean and efficient. You don't agonize over pixels until the time is right. You create just enough to communicate the right amount at the right time. * Strong conceptual thinking. You have a POV and you aren't afraid to share it. * Strong critical thinking. Design is problem solving and art. You can solve problems. * You know the best practices, the trends and what's relevant, but are always looking to bring something new and exceptional to the experience you're designing. * You understand the importance of UX design as part of an experience from both a human-centered and business perspective. * Demonstrate excellent knowledge of all aspects of the UX approach and the ability to apply them flexibly across a variety of project types. * Work with and present concepts directly to clients. * Mentor more junior design team members and contributing your 2 cents to the Design Team on a frequent basis.
