PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A FULL-TIME, TEMPORARY POSITION.

Under direction, to perform and lead professional utility accounting functions; prepare advanced financial and budgetary reports, analysis, and footnotes; and perform related work as required.

Essential Functions

Leads, reviews, and performs professional utility accounting, financial reporting and budgeting functions; performs utility fixed asset and inventory accounting functions; prepares critical portions of, and reviews and comments on the work of others related to, the annual budget and annual report; monitors utility accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls; prepares complex financial and budgetary reports, analysis, work papers, and footnotes; assists auditors with annual and special audits; provides complex accounting services, to include the interpretation and application of accounting principles; prepares reports and presentations; performs analysis and analytics related to studies and planning for utility cost allocations, utility overhead rates, and utility rate making and design; reviews, reports on, and recommends changes to, cost allocations to and from utility managed funds; ensures compliance with financial contractual obligations and agreements; monitors and manages utility receivables agings and reserves for uncollectables; monitors and manages utility projects and work order aging to ensure timely close-out, billing, and capitalization; assists in long and short term utility revenue, expense, capital, and cash forecasting; assists in risk management, power supply accounting and analysis; provides ad-hoc reporting and guidance on utility accounting, budgeting, and reporting policies, procedures, and practices; reviews the work of accounting and finance staff; supervises, trains, develops, and evaluates employees; makes effective recommendations regarding hiring, promotions, and transfers; effectively recommends disciplinary actions as needed, up to and including termination; performs special projects and other utility accounting and financial functions.

Minimum Qualifications

Employment Standards:

  • Knowledge of principles, techniques, theory, and practices of utility accounting, financial reporting and budgeting; Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); analytic techniques; utility regulations, codes, and policies; administrative policies and procedures; principles and practices of sound personnel management and supervision.

  • Skill in - computerized accounting systems; computer based spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation software.

  • Ability to - maintain and improve advanced automated accounting systems and procedures; communicate effectively both orally and in writing with strong reasoning, analytical, and interpersonal skills; prepare written reports and give effective oral presentations; supervise and direct the work of others; establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, employees of other agencies, auditors, and the public.

Education/Training: Any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance as determined by the City. Example combination includes but is not limited to: graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a closely related field, and two years of professional utility accounting experience.

Supplemental Information

A valid California Class "C" driver's license or equivalent may be required at time of appointment.

Desirable Qualifications:
CPA, CMA, CFA or MBA.

Digital Networks Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Manager, Accounting for the Digital Media Sales Finance department. This individual will work with exciting brands such as Ellen DeGeneres's digital joint venture with Warner Bros. and the studio's robust YouTube video clip business. This complex role deals with high profile executives solving challenging issues frequently. Specific responsibilities include: * Managing complex monthly compilation of cash receipts and disbursements to be used in annual joint venture statement. * Liaising with Ellen Digital Ventures (EDV) production accounting team and management in setting measurement of key performance indicators. * Coordinating and setting accounting policies with WB Technology Finance, Telepictures and Studio Facilities. * Managing monthly financial statements and reports to EDV as well as WB management on the results and narrative around business activities. * Managing outside participant audit firm data requests and compile information for distribution. * Preparing annual joint venture statement and request contingent compensation and Ellen participation payment ~ $15MM thru WB Sr Management. * Understanding cash management; budget cycles, actuals and cause of change; must have a firm grasp of cash flows in and out of company. * Managing credit applications, client invoicing and cash application of EDV integration deals. * Reviewing and understanding complex contract language (revenue, cost, participant and audit contracts). * Coordinating workflow, accounting tasks and policy edicts with Senior Manager, EDV Production Accounting. * Ensuring consistent, concise and clear communication to WB Finance VP and escalate issues as they arise. * Recommending accounting policy application consistent with ASC-606 and work directly with WB FP&A and Compliance to ensure adherence to policies. * Overseeing all accounting aspects of YouTube User Generated Clips business. * Managing $62MM annual Google contract bonus pacing, monthly Google contract bonus tracking and informing Finance and DNG executive management of our progress. * Analyzing 12 month by-title performance and booking SAP journal entry applying the annual Google bonus to title. * Serving as primary liaison with Fullscreen (a Warner Media company) in managing monthly robust by-title financial reporting. * Auditing Fullscreen financial reporting and ensuring that the fees are consistent with contractual terms. * Reviewing the accounting work performed by WB Corporate Accounting and approving monthly SAP journal entries by title. * Preparing monthly by-title journal entries not handled by Corporate Accounting and recommending transition to them when appropriate. * Preparing monthly financial reporting compared to various budget cycles and prior year performance as well as cause of change narrative. * Recommending accounting, reporting and budgeting changes to the business. * Assigning work to Senior Financial Analyst as needed in support of monthly accounting close. * Managing SAP cash and P&L budget uploads and ensuring that all aspects of process are accurate and conform to internal controls. * Analyzing various aspects of the business to prepare and submit cash and P&L cause of change. * Submitting monthly/quarterly accounting close schedules to WB Global TV Distribution, WB Corporate Accounting and Financial Reporting teams as well as be responsible for requests from these teams as they arise. * Liaising with DNG management to ensure there is a firm understanding of our business priorities, ensure proper communication and data flow. * Working with WB Finance VP and Director to ensure team members are in complete understanding of budget buildups. * Continuously assess policies and processes, while making recommendations to implement improvements that will gain efficiencies, streamline workflow and improve reporting. What do we require from you? * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA preferred. * Minimum 7 years of accounting experience. * Television experience and/or previous accounting & reporting experience within the entertainment industry a plus. * Strong proficiency in Word, Outlook and advanced level Excel skills; SAP experience preferred. * Knowledge of TV digital landscape and create ad-hoc financial models. * Excellent verbal, written communication skills and self-confidence.
