The Platform Services Team in the Information Technology Bureau supports many critical systems to keep the Police Officers and all supporting staff operational, as a 24/7 operation. The Senior User Technology Specialist on this team maintains the Critical Systems that are supported consist of CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) and RMS (Record Management System), contain both Microsoft Windows and Linux Operating Systems.

The Platform Services team is responsible for:

  • Administering all the servers in the Police Department, from the hardware level to the operating system.

  • The servers consist of physical and virtual; the virtual servers are hosted on VMWare.

  • Supporting the SAN Environment, which consists of fiber channels from storage systems to the servers in the data centers.

  • Data Protection and Server Patching.

  • File/Print Share administration.

  • Virtual desktop infrastructure.

  • System monitoring.

  • Team collaboration with other departments within the Phoenix Police Department IT Bureau and the City of Phoenix IT department (ITS).

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Proficient technical project leader in the acquisition and implementation of technology projects and writing business & technical requirements.

  • Ability to develop specifications, quotes, and requirements for hardware.

  • Excellent time management and communication skills.

  • Proficient in day-to-day technical server/desktop maintenance, troubleshooting, and implementation of technology projects, along with writing business and technical requirements.

  • Ability to demonstrate a diverse history of technical expertise with a level of strong professional experience in multiple platforms.

SALARY

Pay Range: $78,540.80 to $110,510.40 annually.

Hiring Range: $78,540.80 to $105,248.00 annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years of experience in systems applications analysis, programming or telecommunications functions utilizing a variety of PC, server, switching, routing, and multiplexing hardware and software.

  • OR Two years of experience in installation and maintenance of digital systems, radio, and electronic communications systems or telephone station equipment, systems, and related distribution telecommunications systems.

  • 15 hours of appropriate information technology course work including training or experience with one or more workstation computers and one or more programming languages and one or more operating systems.

  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

  • Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

  • Experience with:

  • Change Control policies and procedures.

  • Microsoft Server 2016 and newer.

  • Microsoft Active Directory Services, DNS (Domain Name System), and DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol).

  • Microsoft File and Print Shares.

  • VMware vSphere.

  • VMware Horizon.

  • Supporting an enterprise environment with 100+ servers.

  • Supporting hands-on enterprise grade servers and storage from Cisco, HPE (Hewlett Packard Enterprise Networking), and Pure Storage.

  • Data Protection products such as: Veeam and Wasabi Cloud Storage.

  • Securing sensitive networks and working with information security policies.

  • Certifications such as: CompTIA A+, Net+, Security+, Server+, and VMware VCP-DCV (Data Center Virtualization).
