Position Purpose The Senior Urology Technician will provide clinical, procedural, and administrative support to the providers in an ambulatory care setting. This position provides direct patient care with rooming, preparing patients for visit, tracks, and coordinates test results, educates patients, assists with closing care gaps, as well as assisting physicians, APP#s, and RNs in procedures. # The Senior Urology Technician will be a resource and provide education to other urology technicians within the medical group on multiple topics, including but not limited to urology tech workflow, back-office processes, and point of care testing. # # # Nature and Scope This position is responsible to provide effective leadership in assisting the manager in the efficient running of the department. # This position is fluent in all staff level positions and is an integral part of training, staff development and quality assurance. The senior position models Renown Health#s Mission, Vision, and Values, and adheres to policies and procedures and meets productivity standards. This position represents a role model for staff level personnel to emulate. # # Prepares patient for procedure including vitals, positioning, application of topical numbing, reviewing the procedure, safety precautions, and consent form. Provides pre and post care instructions directly to the patient. # Passes correct instruments, supplies and sutures as needed by the physician and assists the physician during the procedure when necessary. # Assists in procedures with skin retraction and post-procedure sterile gauze. # Prepares specimens for submission for pathological analysis. # Performs suture removal and/or bandaging, independently under the physician#s orders. # Prepares basic sterile packs and trays. Identifies and selects appropriate packs, trays, and accessory/specialty equipment for each procedure. Prepares instruments and equipment for all sterile procedures. # Prepares the physical procedure exam room, creating the sterile field, preparing supplies and instruments, urologic equipment, and maintaining sterile technique during the procedure. # Performs simple catheter placement and removal, void trials, bladder scans, urine analysis (UA), prepares biopsy samples, specific urodynamic related tasks (consent, rooming, start uroflow, provides instructions), cystoscopy, biopsy, and vasectomy preparation. # Completes all necessary documentation. # Effectively communicates with patients regarding results and treatment as directed by provider. # Maintains proper upkeep and cleanliness of exam room, including stocking rooms, daily and monthly safety/quality duties (refrigerator checks, expired products, et.). # Completes care coordination including; phone messages, managing provider inbox and escalates results to the provider, patient questions as appropriate, scheduling of appointments (as needed), in clinic procedure/medication prior authorization. # Performs/Assists Urodynamic procedures with the provider. # Communicates prescription refill requests to provider and calls in refills to pharmacy. Performs delegated clinical tasks with a written provider order. # Administers in office medication and intravesical instillations under the direction of the provider. # Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. # Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. # Responsible for ensuring compliance to medical group standards for the delivery and quality of care within their assigned location(s). Continually monitors adherence to policies and procedures for all urology technicians within their medical group. Promotes teamwork. # This position will keep abreast of all standards to assure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies including third party reimbursement requirements. # This position is responsible to assist the manager in daily duties which include but are not limited to developing daily work assignments, addressing employee productivity and competency, quality assurance, etc. # This position is responsible to assist the manager, when necessary, when an employee had an unscheduled absence, and has the authority to find appropriate coverage following departmental budgetary guidelines and determining whether patient volume warrants replacement coverage. The position may be required to be on call and/or work nights and weekends. # This position is responsible for developing and maintaining positive working relationships with other departments, entities, physicians, and outside agencies. # The incumbent uses professionalism and diplomacy with interacting with patients of all ages, their families, physicians, office staff and other healthcare providers in the accurate collecting of demographic, clinical and financial information in person or via telephone interviews. # Decisions, which must be referred to the manager, are matters involving non-routine problems, which may develop negatively toward Renown Health. This position has the authority to deal with immediate employee issues when appropriate. All incidents must be reported to the manager for final resolution. Computer / Typing: Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. # #
