Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Senior Universal Banker is to assist the Branch Manager in providing leadership to the bank through efficient daily operations in all areas of banking service and in creating a culture of excellence in service and operations. The Senior Universal Banker is responsible for operational efficiencies, as well as developing and maintaining customer relationships.

This position combines the traditional Head Teller and Personal Banker duties into one position. It also may include managing branch operations when the Branch Manager is absent. The Senior Universal Banker will assist in efforts to reach profit, performance and customer service goals and will work closely with other business lines to partner in joint marketing plans and cross-selling efforts. This position will actively call on new and prospective customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Relationship and Business Development:

  • Open new accounts, including compiling and preparing new account paperwork and applications.

  • Identify the unmet needs of current and potential customers and offer appropriate products and services.

  • Promote and provide information to customers on new and enhanced products, services, promotions, contests, etc.

  • Promote and cross-sell exciting products and services to current and potential customers to include joint calls with other departments.

  • Participate in community events to increase bank visibility and develop business opportunities.

Customer Service:

  • Assist customer inquiries and requests regarding current accounts.

  • Identify and inform customers of account status discrepancies and disputes and provide options to resolve.

  • Receive and process loan payments, record and issue transaction receipt.

  • Receive cash and checks for deposit, verify proper endorsement, confirm deposit slip accuracy, record and issue transaction receipt.

  • Process cash withdrawals from savings and checking accounts, verify signatures and account balances, examine all checks, bonds, money orders, and savings withdrawals to determine negotiability, record and issue transaction receipt.

  • Answer and assist incoming callers with questions and requests; route callers appropriately.

  • Receive incoming bank visitors and assist in directing them appropriately.

  • Process IRA transactions.

Branch Operations:

  • Conduct all work in accordance with bank policies and procedures and regulatory standards to ensure safety and soundness.

  • Balance and replenish cash in ATM if applicable.

  • Weekly cash ordering.

  • Receive, count, and balance working cash at beginning and end of each shift as needed.

  • Perform Audits

  • Balance and maintain vault cash

Additional Task Statement(s)

  • Work overtime, as needed.

  • Provide assistance to other departments as needed.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned and requested.

  • Travel to other locations as needed.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and two or more years of banking experience preferred.

Knowledge of changes in the banking industry and in banking technology.

Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel software applications, other banking computer systems and related software and ability to operate a variety of office equipment.

Competencies

Strong people relations skills and ability to work with team members and customers in a cooperative manner. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).

Ability to make decisions, research and solve problems, work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Must have regular attendance on the job.

Must be able to form an effective working relationship with coworkers, customers, managers and other stakeholders.

Must maintain professionalism by approaching others in a tactful and respectful manner regardless of status or position.

This job may have supervisory responsibilities.
