Senior Undewriter (P&C Middle East, Africa, Russia)
The position is reporting to the Head of Region and it's embedded in the Middle East, African and Russia team.
Your mission is to effectively execute PartnerRe's P&C underwriting strategy within the allocated markets up to the underwriting authorities limits provided for Treaty and FAC business. In more detail your responsibilities will be to:
Actuaries and ensuring that all underwriting actions and decisions are properly documented
Acquire and maintain new profitable business in this region, particularly African business
Consult and provide solutions for your clients, and organize workshops for them
Define strategy and actions in the MEAR region
Participate in conferences and seminars as a speaker
Interact effectively with other Business Units and departments such as, Accounting,
Claims, Wording, as well as the CAT Modeling team to ensure timely CAT pricing
Handle administrative task, such as review contractual documents and endorsement requests, data input, maintain data quality of portfolio, etc.
Provide market information to our internal peers
Prepare various reports for the management
As a successful Underwriter you ensure PartnerRe's best position with its clients in the region you are responsible for. You take time to listen to the needs and demands they face, and review how to best serve them. As a resourceful discussion partner you articulate the value of our solutions and long-term partnership. With your in-depth understanding of our clients' business, strategy, underwriting approach and the related exposures you convince them of our solutions. You are passionate about finding solutions for our clients, and are the go-to partner for P&C risk challenges.
In addition, you have the following background, skills and mindset:
In-depth insurance and reinsurance knowledge
Treaty and FAC knowledge and experience expected
Min. 7 years of Underwriting experience, thereof at least 3 years in the reinsurance industry in the Middle East with respective knowledge of MEAR markets and competitors is essential
Strong business acumen, and demonstrated ability in communicating effectively with clients and internal partners at different levels
Engaging personality that persuades clients not only due to excellent analytical capabilities, but as well by understanding their needs and delivering proactively solutions that create buy-in
Excellent negotiation skills with a high level of creativity, and ability to articulate the value of our solutions to our clients
Fluency in English is required, other languages a plus
Readiness to act within defined policies and procedures
Ability to travel frequently
