Position Purpose
An RLI Executive Products Underwriter is analytical, creative and a problem solver. They work to foster relationships with wholesale brokers in a defined territory to underwrite and appropriately price policies that insure their customers' risks while maintaining profitability for RLI.
The position is responsible for underwriting a book of business made up of Directors and Officers (Public, Private, Not-for-Profit), Employment Practices, Fiduciary Liability (ERISA and Non-ERISA) and Fidelity accounts to achieve departmental premium and profit goals.
This position is responsible for the overall management, business development, analysis and monitoring of a book of business. Independently works within specific limits of authority on assignments utilizing underwriting policies and guidelines, rating manual rules and insurance laws and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
They are also expected to maintain and develop broker relationships, including addressing opportunities and areas of concern. Participates in product line management including product enhancements as well as corrective action.

Education & Experience
College degree or equivalent work experience with demonstrated involvement in the insurance industry.
RPLU designation is preferred.
A minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies
Understanding of profitable risk selection and pricing.
Skill and knowledge of broker/agency management and relationship building in assigned territory.
Track record of uncovering, researching and putting together new product line opportunities by applying appropriate underwriting strategies and standards to qualify risk acceptability.
Ability to work effectively and within an assigned level of underwriting authority.
Experience planning, orchestrating, and leading highly effective broker meetings.
Negotiates standard coverage issues, closes sale, and gauges customer satisfaction.
Strong technical knowledge regarding underwriting, coverage and pricing within a particular product line.
Participates in product line management including product enhancements as well as corrective actions.
Serves as a company representative to external organizations, as appropriate.
Proven ability to build and maintain strong productive relationships with individual brokers.
Provide timely, courteous and efficient service to all internal and external clients.
Keeps current on issues affecting the professional liability line of business as well as the competitors and the overall marketplace. Attends industry conferences as required.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Remote or Hybrid: Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing. Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing.
Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of standard office machinery.
Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone.
The starting base pay for this position is dependent on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, education, specialty, and internal equity. The base pay range for this position, based on expected work location and job level is:
$97,302.00 - $157,520.00
