The Senior Underwriter, Cyber & Technology will act within established guidelines, market, analyze, review, evaluate and monitor new and renewal accounts of all programs, exercise independent judgment in the processing of accounts and manage underwriting activities. Product lines include Cyber, Technology, Miscellaneous Professional Liability and Media.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Prospects new business targets and opportunities and develops strategies to procure new business
Manages personal book of business with regard to new lines, renewals, and cross-marketing of product lines within AXIS
Meets established divisional servicing objectives related to quote turnaround, policy issuance, phone management, renewal management, file maintenance, and documentation
Analyzes and underwrites individual risks. Develop appropriate limit structure, retention, pricing and endorsements within underwriting guidelines. Refer to supervisor for approval.
Continues to develop and update product and underwriting knowledge.
Participates in prospecting through the identification of new business targets and opportunities, work closely with producer/agent to ensure department receives opportunity to offer proposal. Make strategy recommendations to supervisor.
Reviews and evaluates primarily new business based upon company underwriting guidelines, competition and geographic focus. Develops strategy and makes recommendations.
Reviews coverage requests provided by agent and determine department's position relating to such requests within individual authority granted. Present those requests outside the individual authority to immediate supervisor for approval or guidance.
Cross markets between the product offerings within the department and other business units.
Performs required number of broker marketing calls, including out of state travel. Solicit new accounts, gather market intelligence and deliver up-to-date department information relating to products and services. Manage select agency relationships to ensure objectives are achieved.
Maintains up-to-date familiarity with economic and legal factors that impact the department's lines of business and the overall insurance industry.
Participates in special projects and department initiatives at the request of manager.
Coordinates with branch marketing representatives and profit center representatives to allow for cross marketing.
Required Education/Training & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Mathematics, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance or related field preferred
A minimum of 5-7 years' relevant experience in underwriting and/or brokering
Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
Ability to establish broker relationships within the region
Other Desired Skills and Characteristics:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Excellent negotiation, interpersonal/communication skills, and strong marketing abilities
