SCOPE:

  • Fundamentals of coverage, terms and conditions. Ability to analyze coverage, terms and conditions which generate a profit for the Company while meeting the needs of the customer.

  • Risk Assessment. Ability to identify risk exposures, special or common hazards, and appropriate controls. Ability to select risks based on exposure and risk analysis. Ability to analyze claims and quantify losses.

  • Financial proficiency. Understanding of financial statements and ratios used in risk analysis. Understanding of insurance financial fundamentals; impact of underwriting decisions on company assets.

  • Actuarial fundamentals. Ability to understand loss trends, loss triangles, and ratemaking. Ability to quantify risk based on experience history and forecasting methods.

  • Marketing and Communications. Ability to sell and negotiate to achieve bottom line profitability for the Company. Ability to make presentations and communicate articulately. Ability to base communications on strategic thinking. Ability to manage underwriting decisions in relation to producer strategy.

  • Systems and programs. Ability to use systems and software programs needed to conduct daily business.

KEY OBJECTIVE: Under limited supervision, primary responsibility is to underwrite individual risks presented for referral and be responsible for broader underwriting for MGAs / programs under management.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

  • Manages referrals from MGAs / program partners

  • Implements broader underwriting strategies in cooperation with the internal Program team

  • Works in close cooperation with the internal Program Manager, Compliance and Filings, Loss Control, Actuarial, Claims and other internal business members

  • Periodically reviews coverages and underwriting guidelines for respective programs

  • Provides training and guidance to MGA underwriters as needed

  • Participates in program underwriting audits and other meetings with the MGA as required

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5-7 years underwriting experience

  • Experience underwriting multiple lines of insurance

  • Bachelor's degree

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of insurance industry

  • Knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Oral and written communication skills

  • Negotiation skills

The Senior Program Manager will work in the following market segments: Complex Facilities, Highway & Bridge, Aviation, and Rail & Transit. This person will lead large programs; may serve as the principal in charge on multiple projects; will assist in business development for major pursuits; and will mentor and train future program management leaders. Primary responsibilities include: * Direct multidisciplinary teams in support of program and project structuring, start-up, planning, delivery, and closeout * Direct, review and advise program and project teams on procurement and delivery methodologies * Direct, review and advise program and project teams on budget development and cost control * Direct, review and advise program and project teams on program risks through program and project life cycle * Review and advice on program stakeholder management * Lead owner-led meetings, and represent the team in delivery partner-led or stakeholder-led meetings * Participate in project start-up, planning, procurement, design development, pre-construction, and construction meetings * Evaluate project team's design development, construction methods, techniques, and phasing * Assist in identifying, developing a plan, and resolving issues as they arise during planning, procurement, design development, construction, and closeout * Assist with program schedule and specific project CPM schedule updates and sequencing including submittal status and production analysis. * Advise program team with functional area reporting as required * Responsible for Quality Control implementation and documentation on specific program functional areas for adherence to the Project's policies and contract requirements * Manage safety planning, execution, and documentation on the project. * Assist project team with scope review of change management and schedule impacts as well as development of fragments and/or major CPM schedule modifications * Assist with handling of subcontractor claims and back charges * Establish and maintain effective relationships with all Project parties and stakeholders Qualifications include: * Must possess a BA or BS degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline * Graduate degree preferred, but not required * Requires a minimum of 20 years of relevant experience, with at least 10 years of experience leading large, complex projects and programs * Must have experience managing multidisciplinary teams across the complete program life cycle * Requires prior experience with procurement and delivery methodologies * Previous experience managing programs in multiple geographies a plus * Prior experience managing programs across different market sectors a plus * Prior experience managing programs for public and private sectors a plus * Experience in leveraging new technologies STV Group, Incorporated Philadelphia PA
