Minted is looking for a Senior UI Engineer committed to helping us create a beautiful component library for interfacing design with engineering. We are seeking well-rounded people who have a passion for user experience and a background building rich, scalable, modular JS component frameworks.

You will:

  • Own the React component library used across Minted's front-end applications and refactor code to use modular components

  • Develop a modular, flexible library of components for use across all of Minted's websites

  • Teach and evangelize best practices in HTML & CSS to improve reliability, performance, and accessibility

  • Work with the front end team to reduce bundle size and improve build times

  • Provide insight into current best practices for UI engineering and help to drive decisions around framework and tool choices

  • Help onboard and mentor junior engineers to advance their front-end knowledge and skill set

  • Work with the design team to develop and maintain our design system

You are:

  • Passionate about design and creating great experiences

  • Committed to crafting modular and extensible JavaScript, CSS, and HTML

  • Interested in open source and early adoption of future standards

You have:

  • 5+ years of experience working on high-impact, design-focused and consumer-driven sites

  • Experience with React or other modern web frameworks

  • A design background or have worked closely with designers in the past

  • Experience creating modular component frameworks

  • A holistic understanding of application design and performance

  • Experience leading complex Front-End projects and accurately estimating scope and risks

  • Worked on e-commerce sites with all the browser-compatibility challenges that come from supporting IE 11

Bonus:

  • Experience with typescript, graphQL, node.js

  • Professional experience in interaction design

If you join this team, you will be focused on core areas of e-commerce: * Data-driven Analysis: We ask the right questions about what drives growth, collect meaningful data, automate the analysis, and define tests that improve conversion. * Acquisition: We optimize the digital acquisition for newrelic.com and focus on improving the conversion rate of different aspects of our digital marketing strategy. * Engagement & Retention: Setup, signup, and production adoption are the key experiences that we own across the customer lifecycle. * Payments: We are responsible for the self-service purchase experience in product, which allows customers to seamlessly buy or expand their use of New Relic. What You'll Do * Reviews of your peers' code with an eye towards code quality and overall architectural soundness. * Collaborate with the team to break down projects into engineering tasks for each sprint. * Identify blockers and work across teams to resolve issues. * Provide insight about tech debt to influence the roadmap. * Build new features to enhance our ecommerce customer experience. * Mentor other engineers on the team. * Own UI and UX excellence. Your Qualifications * You have at least 5 years of industry experience working in a team environment, building production web applications with modern front-end languages and frameworks, such as AngularJS and ReactJS. * Have experience collaborating closely with designers. Build a strong alliance with the Design Team, becoming a partner providing feedback and solutions from a technical standpoint. * Can push the forefront of the team through by building in-product and out-of-product growth strategies. Teach us to craft beautiful and well engineered customer user experiences. * Work in short iterations to learn/refine quickly and minimize risk introduced by new changes secured by an ironclad test suite. * Actively participate in code reviews, and sprint planning meetings to ensure we are all coding at our best while staying aligned with business goals. * You have a testing-oriented mindset, and understand both how to write tests and the value of automated testing. * Have strong opinions, weakly held and rooted in personal experience. You can easily disregard prior held biases and opinions in the face of new information and use cases. * You are strong written and verbal communicator who expects the best of yourself and others, and would rather band together for a common cause than fly solo. * Can build strong alliances with product and engineering managers.
