What you'll be doing…
As Senior TV Editor, you’ll be responsible for producing coverage for the TV hardware channel of Tom’s Guide. You'll work with the Managing Editor of TV/AV to bring a vision for the channel to the team, creating a range of content that helps people to understand what the best products on the market are right now, what’s coming down the line in the future, and how to get more from what they already have. You'll figure out what the right content mix is as part of a site that serves many different types of reader.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include writing TV-related news, features and reviews for the channel as well as overseeing, commissioning and managing work from freelance and staff writers. There is an emphasis in this position on obtaining and writing TV reviews that will help enhance Tom’s Guide’s reputation in the industry and will therefore require you to cultivate relationships with major TV makers. In addition to writing and editing content, you'll use social media to amplify this content to a wider audience and employ best practices to find the right readers via search, taking ownership of traffic results.

Experience that will put you ahead of the curve...

  • An in-depth knowledge of TV and AV technology.
  • Ability to write TV reviews in a timely fashion, leveraging our lab test results and your own testing.
  • Can write news, features, face-offs and how-to articles related to TVs and emerging TV tech. 
  • Experience in a section editor role or similar on a website or magazine.
  • A history of editing and commissioning articles from varied freelancers.
  • A proven ability to work online and an understanding of the needs it brings.
  • A working relationship with public relations professionals in the industry.
  • Good understanding of SEO and analytics.
  • At least 3 years of related experience.

Please note, the salary range for this position is $72,000-77,000

This is a position covered under a collective bargaining agreement between Future US, Inc. and the Writers Guild of America East.

This is a Hybrid role from our New York City Office, working three days from the office, two from home.
