Senior Trial Counsel

Public Protection & Advocacy Bureau

Consumer Protection Division

Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell seeks a highly motivated attorney to join her Office's Consumer Protection Division as Senior Trial Counsel. The Division enforces the Massachusetts Consumer Protection Act (M.G.L. c. 93A) and seeks to protect consumers from unfair or deceptive practices across established and emerging industries by investigating and litigating cases to ensure compliance with the Consumer Protection Act and regulations promulgated thereunder.

The Senior Trial Counsel will primarily focus on the Office's flagship and nation-leading cases and investigations that protect the public from pernicious business practices, including by companies that attempt to leverage new technology to harm consumers. The role will use the full weight of Massachusetts law to hold accountable those companies that choose to addict or mislead consumers, rather than attracting them with quality products and services.

These cases and investigations will advance the Attorney General's core strategic priorities, including efforts to: protect the mental health and well-being of our young people; promote public safety; and advance economic opportunity and racial justice by addressing the needs of all consumers residing in the Commonwealth. Through this work, we aim to serve the most vulnerable residents of the Commonwealth, including youth, elders, low-income residents, and other communities that have historically been targeted or exploited by unfair and deceptive practices.

Primary Duties: The Senior Trial Counsel will be responsible for leading and participating in complex civil investigations, litigations, negotiations, and other projects in furtherance of the Attorney General's strategic priorities. Senior Counsel will report to managers throughout the Office and be responsible for their own caseload, in addition to supporting priority matters across the Office that are brought under the Consumer Protection Act or that would benefit from the expertise and leadership of the Senior Trial Counsel.

Location: This position may be based in the Boston Office or one of the Office's regional locations in New Bedford, Springfield, and Worcester. Office location will be determined based on the candidate's expressed preference and space availability.

Position Type: Full-Time/Exempt

Salary: $118,000 to $123,620 commensurate with experience and qualifications.
