Responsibilities

Basic Purpose

Supports the Treasurer and CFO organization by performing financial analyses and making sound recommendations related to cash flows, financial performance, debt and equity management, cost/benefit analysis, capital structure, investment portfolio analysis, business plans, and regulatory alternatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performs financial analysis related to capital structure, capital costs, financing analysis, investment decisions, project initiatives, and other corporate initiatives.

Performs cost/benefit, lease/buy, capital structure, and regulatory alternatives analyses.

Analyzes options for improvement on related processes and costs.

Provides support to pension and credit & risk management activities.

Analyzes and evaluates the Company's financial forecast and results.

Evaluates optimization activities including debt pre-funding, commodities and financial hedging, credit risk, etc. Understands drivers to credit ratings and the calculation of various credit metrics to assist with the 10-year planning process.

Maintains strong professional relationships with a variety of internal and external parties, including consultants, rating agencies, portfolio managers, investors, and other external agents. Confers with internal stakeholders to ensure coordination and validating of key assumptions and outputs.

Reviews financial models including monthly and annual forecast with confidence.

Prepares data, reports, and narrative for regulatory filings, financing applications, cost of capital statements, corporate planning guidelines, and resource plan financial forecasts.

Researches and offers recommendations on a variety of investment issues and alternatives (e.g., pension funding).

Develops and maintains forecasting models (e.g., UI Planner and Excel) that accurately reflect regulatory and company policies, requirements, and guidelines.

Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Essential Education, Skills, and Environment

Education and Work Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited school plus 6 years of related work experience.

Candidates that do not possess a bachelor's degree must have a minimum of 10 years of related work experience.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Demonstrated knowledge of:

  • Financial models (including excel and UI Planner) and analytical tools in the applicable area of responsibility, including but not limited to the following: budget variance analysis, capital budgeting, tax, portfolio analysis, asset rebalancing, risk management, or cash management.

Skills such as:

  • Analytical, interpersonal and communication.

Equipment and Applications

PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

General office environment. No special physical demands required.

Compensation

Annual Salary: $71,200 (Min) to $91,500 (Mid); Up to 10% Short Term Incentive Plan opportunity at the discretion of the company.

The Senior Financial Systems Analyst role is responsible for the administration of the Company's financial systems including Cognos, Timeline, Infinium, Great Plains, Blackline applications and other financial systems. This position will collaborate and interact within the finance, business and IT communities. The Senior Financial Systems Analyst must exhibit strong leadership, collaboration, accounting/financial acumen and communication skills, and effectively engage peers. This position reports to the Director of Financial Systems within the Accounting Organization. Financial system management includes database validation and ensures data integrity and consistency between all financial systems for accuracy and completeness. Administers the financial reporting tools utilized by the company, which include Cognos and Timeline. Manages the general ledger chart of accounts, entity structure and period controls, and ensures all subsidiary systems are in agreement and properly maintained. Administers Blackline month end close Task, Journal Entry and Account Reconciliation modules. Administers the lease accounting software selected to comply with the FASB ASC 842 lease accounting standard. Responsibilities The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary: * Responsible for managing all functional components of assigned financial systems. * Liaise with Internal Audit and the IT Departments to ensure compliance with user provisioning internal controls for the financial systems. * Work collaboratively with internal and external resources to support and enhance the existing BI architecture. * Develop and update security groups and roles as required to meet business objectives. * Work with users to resolve a variety of customer issues for financial reporting and the general ledger. * Develop and maintain documentation such as design documents, admin guides, etc. * Application administration includes research and resolve issues with metadata, create and maintain hierarchies, write or modify basic calculation scripts or business rules, execute processes such as deploying data and updating variables, and maintain mapping of source data from local source systems to the financial reporting systems. * Maintain the general ledger chart of accounts, time period controls and entity structure and ensure all subsidiary systems are kept in sync with one another. * Provide support on all accounting and financial related systems, including collaborating with consultants and software vendors on projects. * Assist with design, planning and testing of system upgrades and enhancements to accounting and financial related systems. * Involvement in the implementation of new financial systems and upgrades/modifications to existing systems. This includes capturing business requirements, input data requirements, output requirements, input data acquisition, data governance, system controls, data validation and testing of the applications.
