The Senior Training & Development Specialist's primary responsibility is to design, develop and facilitate enterprise-wide leadership development programs and learning experiences for Ashley Furniture's mid-level and senior-level leaders. This may include customizing existing content to present in new formats as well as becoming certified in additional vendor programs.
The Senior Training & Development Specialist will collaborate with departmental peers and management within the department as well as various business unit stakeholders to determine necessary program scope and objectives. This position will utilize departmental learning design methodologies to create learning events, instructional activities and materials that effectively incorporate adult learning principles and will evaluate learners and programs to ensure individual performance expectations, skill application and organizational needs have been achieved.
The Senior Training & Development Specialist will facilitate learning experiences in multiple delivery modalities including, but not limited to, eLearning, instructor-led training in both in person and virtual environments. This role must demonstrate flexibility to shift between each facet of their role with little difficulty. In addition, this role will stay current with innovative, new learning experience design modalities and be able to create pilot programs based on this research.
The Senior Training & Development Specialist will manage their own projects and provide clear communication to necessary stakeholders on an ongoing basis to ensure alignment to business and organizational priorities.

Primary Job Functions
Assess training needs through surveys, interviews, organizational analysis or data mining to determine best approach to performance gaps or behavioral change needed.
Design and develop enterprise-wide leadership programs in multiple formats such as ILT, VILT, eLearning, self-paced, micro-learning, informal learning, podcast, webinars, etc. Make decisions regarding sourcing of all learning content.
Build programs to equip leaders to be able to lead through various internal, external and political disruptions.
Provide strong data tools and analysis demonstrating the impact of the learning programs
Analyze business need and provide recommendations as to build vs. buy decisions and delivery modalities of enterprise-wide programs and courses.
Review and recommend training materials from a variety of vendors that align with our core & growth values and organizational needs.
Facilitate engaging and highly effective enterprise-wide leadership programs to mid-level and senior level leaders using adult learning theory practices.
Develop and conduct train-the trainer programs for business leaders to prepare them to facilitate learning experiences.
Monitor and evaluate training programs to ensure they align with strategic need, are applicable to the work and an efficient use of time.
Perform administrative tasks such as monitoring costs, scheduling classes, setting up systems and equipment and coordinating enrollment.
Lead and direct project teams focused on the development and execution of learning objectives.
Review, edit and provide guidance to the work of other team members.
Actively participate in departmental meetings, training and education. Assist with training other employees and providing backup.
Complete other assignments and special projects as requested.
5 years' experience in a Training & Development role, Required
Design and development of leadership learning experiences
Experience developing enterprise-level learning programs for senior-level leaders
Experience working on enterprise-level projects and initiatives
Experience facilitating learning experiences for senior-level leaders
Licenses or Certifications:
