The Senior Trading Associate is responsible for the control and coordination of BMO Harris Financial Advisor trading on multiple platforms. The Senior Trading Associate will be a team leader, responsible for the supervision of trading and ensuring that the responsibilities of the trading team are consistently met. Along with overall supervisory tasks, the Senior Trading Associate will be responsible for reviewing trends and helping to deliver trade status and KRI reports to the Risk and Operations committees.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Execute Trading 45%

  • Accountable for the control and co-ordination of the trade desk operations

  • Maintain ongoing knowledge of the team activities and take ownership of tasks not being completed by the team

  • Develop team "best execution standards" to adhere to third party vendor standards

  • Answer field calls to the team phone line during business hours

  • Trade Supervision and Reporting

  • 45%
  • Supervise Trading as a Series 24 Trade Principal

  • Determine appropriate action on Trade Error/Correction Details and Reporting

  • Depending on Licensing, Supervise Municipal Trading (53) and/or Options Trading (4)

  • Manage ongoing relationship with the external trading vendors (Envestnet, and/or Pershing)

  • Build reports and KRI management for delivery to Operations and Risk Committee

  • Participate as necessary in Operations and Risk Committee Meetings

  • Ensure Trading Team Queue is being managed efficiently and all tasks are completed in appropriate timeframe

  • Help to develop best practices for trading and supervisory practices

  • Make Recommendations for improvements of trading functions

  • Understands the corporate and client investment policies and procedures and adheres to the risk management standards

  • Updates and improves the Policies and Procedures for trading functions as necessary

  • Maintains counterparty contacts and settlement instructions for the trading team

  • Assist in overall project management of business, product or operational projects that need a trading SME
  • Provide support to ongoing development of processes and procedures around trading and platform management

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
5 to 10 years of Trading Experience
2 to 5 years of Trade Supervision Experience

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

Master's Degree or equivalent Preferred

For Securities Products: FINRA Series 7, 65/66, 24

Preferred (Must attain within 90 days) FINRA Series 4

Additional Preferred Licenses: FINRA Series 53
