About the role:

Cruise is looking for a Thermal Test Engineer to help us develop state of the art hardware for our autonomous vehicle. In this position you will partner with Senior Thermal Engineer to identify testing needs, design tests that challenge our products, develop test methods and the equipment needed to execute them, and work closely with technicians and outside providers to execute tests and analyze data for the team.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Working with senior members to create test plans, manage testing schedules, and deliver results

for thermal designs

  • Designing test methods and equipment

  • Speccing and sourcing test instrumentation

  • Managing technicians to set up and run tests

  • Collaborating with the Thermal Engineering team to build testability into designs

  • Documenting test results

  • Own root causing of failures and driving their resolution

  • Analyzing test data and recommending design changes or further testing

  • Participating in internal and external hardware design reviews

  • Interfacing with mechanical, electrical, software, design, and quality assurance teams for product

integration and reliability

You should apply for this role if you have the following qualifications

  • 1-2+ years' experience with root cause analysis experience or complex troubleshooting across

mechanical and thermal systems, with proficiency in test development, fixture design, and data

analysis

  • You have strong cross-functional communication and collaboration

  • You are well-organized and maintain great records

  • You have a BS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience

  • You have passion for building self-driving technology and understand its potential impact on the

world
