Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Test Engineer in support of the secured products assembly and test. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Serve as the primary test engineering lead for the Manufacturing secured products group

  • Supports production acceptance testing including troubleshooting complex electrical and electronics circuits

  • Creates and updates production test procedures and factory acceptance test documents

  • Programs, setups, and maintains production test equipment

  • Interfaces with systems engineering concerning testing requirements, and during peer reviews for production test procedures and factory acceptance tests documents

  • May train test personnel to properly test and measure electronic and electrical products

  • Develops, implements and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies

  • Plan, develop, document and execute the test strategy and plan for verifying functional and security-based requirements

  • Interact with third-party technology vendors, customers and internal technical staff

  • Mentor team in the technology to allow them to be more knowledgeable in the domain

  • Provide weekly status to management

  • Travel to between Taunton and Dedham GDMS locations required

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Design-for-Test (DFT) strategies to ensure test capability.

  • Solid understanding of Burn-in, and Environmental Stress Screen (ESS) test techniques and strategies.

  • Learns to use professional concepts

  • Applies company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues

  • Works on problems of limited scope

  • Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained

  • Builds stable working relationships internally

  • Creative, innovative responsibilities requiring advanced decision-making skills

  • Working knowledge of Functional Test manual and automated test strategies.

  • Working knowledge of test engineering concepts, principles, and theories

  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office applications

  • Good written and verbal communications skills

  • Creative thinker

  • Ability to clearly recognize and report information relevant to sound test engineering design

PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors Degree in ELECTRICAL or ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING
  • Secret Clearance obtainable within reasonable amount of time from hire.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS: Performs systems integration and test (verification), validation and interface definition studies of subsystem or system elements under supervision of the lead systems engineerPerforms large network testing of satellite modems and their associated software using a simulated satellite network. Performs large network testing of satellite terminals and their associated software over a Ka or Ku band satellite network.
