The Senior Technician utilizes the proper techniques and procedures necessary to support the execution of Pilot Plant trials/experiments. He or she is responsible for the application of technical knowledge and techniques in the operation of small scale equipment & machinery. This work plays a critical role in assisting in the advancement of new products and technologies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Technician role is responsible for:
Supporting Pilot Plant related experiments e.g. formula/trial preparation and execution.
Calibration and operation of Pilot Plant equipment/machinery.
Upkeep and cleaning of Pilot Plant area and equipment.
Shadowing of scientists and other experienced technicians for knowledge transfer.
Ingredient inventory upkeep.
Record documentation e.g. lab book, ingredient lot tracing, experiment observations, trial results.
Following department Quality, Safety and GMP policies.
Any other tasks and assignments by line manager.
DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY, RECOMMENDATIONS AND IMPACT
The Senior Technician role is responsible for following trial test designs provided by cross functional partners. With the proper experience, the technician is there to provide troubleshooting and technical guidance for product and process improvements/efficiencies essential for product scale up.
High school degree required.
Preferred: Some college courses,Bachelors Degree or Associates Degree.
Minimum: 1-2 years in a technical, mechanical, manufacturing role .
Preferred: 2+ years in a technical role in the food manufacturing industry - hands on operational experience with small scale process equipment/machinery.
Weight Ingredients Knowledge.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Proficient in basic math.
Proficient in Microsoft Office ,Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Must have strong written, organizational and communication skills.
Must be able to work well in a team environment.
Must be able to frequently lift/carry 60 lbs.
Must be able to withstand frequent bending/stooping, stressful postures, repetitive motions and standing for extended periods of time (sometimes full 8 hour shifts).
10% due to business needs and partnering with other plant sites in the business on Pilot projects.
