Calibration Lab technician
What a typical day looks like: Here are some tasks this position routinely performs:
Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and perform corrective action (via adjustments, component replacement, correction factors, etc.)
Perform calibration activities on measurement and test equipment (both mechanical and electrical).
Perform basic maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of precision equipment determining root causes of problems and taking effective countermeasures.
Perform tasks according to Standards, Internal Operating Procedures, Operation and Instruction Standards, and other written procedures or verbal instructions (e.g. < international="" electrotechnical="" commission="" />IEC-17025).
Keep good records, as directed by good laboratory practices.
Assist in establishing effective new metrology procedures and techniques.
Review documentation for accuracy and compliance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: To perform the job successfully, an individual must demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Experience, training, and/or a strong willingness to learn calibration and quality techniques.
Ability for using computerized equipment and software to perform testing functions, and for reporting results in the applicable format.
Mechanical skills, including knowledge of machines and tools for repair, and maintenance.
Electrical skills, including knowledge of basic circuits & circuit diagrams, and electrical measurement.
Strong problem-solving skills, including attention to detail.
Mathematical ability (for calculations and technical evaluations).
Software is a key tool and capability - a candidate who is comfortable with computers, MS Office/Google, and more importantly having performed some scripting or programming will have a huge advantage to the role.
Good time management skills.
Good clerical and written communication skills (for generating reports, adding records, updating histories, and performing data entry in the calibration database)
Willing and able to occasionally travel with equipment and tools between buildings
Travel is required
Experience working in product verification/validation laboratory setting involving physical testing at the system level or sub-system level.
Being able to work independently
Familiarity with Google Application Suite preferred.
Familiarity with ISO 17025 preferred.
