Senior Technician, Research & Development - Pet

POSITION SUMMARY

R&D Senior Technicians use their understanding of Science and the critical experimental work of day-to-day applied research, including generating and reporting data, to deliver sustained contributions that result in new and/or improved products, packages, processes or methodologies. They must have the ability to the execution of a broad range of technical tasks or deep skills in a single area and may also identify and propose ways to improve methods and new ways to accomplish tasks. Their work is typically "hands on", in a lab, in a plant or pilot plant, on a computer, or with consumers. These tasks are a vital part of the process of evaluating new hypotheses and formula/product/process/packaging designs. They work within established procedures with a limited degree of supervision and have no supervisory responsibilities but manage their own work-load.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform standard operating procedures and test methods relevant to the Job; ensure appropriate preparation in the lab per run request ex: setup, ingredient prep, operation, clean up etc.

  • Conduct experiments/studies to generate data; lead execution of trials & experiments; ensure clean and sanitized equipment utilized for experiments

  • Operate various food processing, packaging, and testing equipment, under strict guidelines and safety requirements, to execute experiments

  • Document and report data for review and interpretation. Document process conditions, ingredient codes, inventory levels etc

  • Communicate results or observations to supervisor and other team members, making special note of unexpected results or observations and proposing interpretations

  • Participate in relevant run meetings; identify/resolve issues as needed; provide feedback on operation/execution

  • Identify ways to improve methods and new ways to accomplish tasks; identify equipment/process upgrades and implement

  • Provide informal guidance and support to more junior team members; draft SOPs and gain alignment for implementation; draft JSA and LOTO for unit operations etc, develop & provide unit operations training

  • Recognize and solve typical problems in own work area

SELECTION CRITERIA

Education

  • High School / Vocational School Diploma with at least 6 years of directly relevant experience OR
  • Associate of Arts Degree with at least 4 years of directly relevant experience OR
  • Associate of Science Degree with at least 2 years of directly relevant experience

Experience

  • Experience in a food processing area with working knowledge of food safety regulations is preferred

  • Extrusion experience is preferred

Other

  • Has developed job relevant specialized skills and/or multiple skills through advanced/specialized formal training and/or job-related training and/or considerable on-the-job experience

  • Is skilled in a range of processes, procedures and systems and/or has developed deep skills in a single area

  • Understands how the assigned duties relate to others in the team and how the team integrates with others in the discipline

  • Understands and is able to use available resources needed to get the job done

  • Provides solutions to problems in situations that are atypical or infrequently occurring based on practice and existing precedents or procedures

  • Uses discretion to modify work practices and processes to achieve results or improve efficiency

  • Readily cooperates, shares information and provides suggestions to meet team goals

  • Can be equipment owner / SME for key unit operations

  • Owner of defined process lab area/equipment. Maintain tools/parts/spares as necessary

  • Support product cuttings for appropriate trials

  • Ensure working order for lab equipment

  • Perform routine maintenance and calibrations etc.

  • Safely set-up and operate process equipment; perform experiments for analysis of new processes, products and materials

  • Follow all J.M. Smucker, health and environmental compliance requirements, and all OSHA Safety rules; comply with company GMP/GSP and other Food Safety/QA requirements

  • Accurately weigh out the ingredients required for experiments, transfer them to the Process Lab for processing and convert the ingredients to finished goods, per written instructions in Process Lab Laboratory Run Request Forms

  • Needs to be familiar with basic automation and process controls, basic electronics

  • Needs familiarity with parts and components of complex machinery as well as the tools to fix them

  • Supports preventive maintenance requirements on motors, conveyor systems, and production machines

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

VIEW JOBS 10/5/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-03T00:00 Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Heart Cardiac Catheterization Lab and / or Electrophysiology Lab, the Senior Radiology Technician is responsible for performing procedures, properly operating radiology equipment, and processing films and results in a timely manner during procedures specific to department. * Performs exams as directed by physician to ensure appropriate views of anatomy are taken that will facilitate an accurate diagnosis. * Assists physician directly, utilizing sterile technique for all invasive procedures. * Prepares patient for diagnostic procedures including pulse assessment and sterile field preparation. * Participates in assessment and quality of equipment and daily operational supplies with the department Manager and makes recommendations accordingly. * Able to take emergency call after hours and on weekends when the need for emergent procedures occur * Competent in Radial, femoral, brachial, and arterial sheath pulls * Efficient with team circulating, scrub role, reporting/recording systems, and xray equipment. * Maintains adequate level of supplies and proficient with inventory management system. * Notifies appropriate personnel to ensure proper maintenance of equipment. * Remains abreast of current developments by attending related seminars and reviewing current literature. * Assists in other areas of Heart and Vascular, if needed, if there is no other work in designated department . * Conducts patient education and screening and scheduling. * Complies with all Radiology Information System and PACS entry requirements for accurate patient, film, supply, tracking monitors. * Ensures the safety of patients, visitors, co-workers and self by using appropriate radiation and bloodborne pathogen precautions. * Operates and maintains radiology equipment used for procedures. * Processes, stores and controls quality of film. * Assists with set up and execution of procedures and transportation of patients. * Takes appropriate steps to ensure safety of patients and staff from radiology equipment. * Inputs patient charges to update billing. * Orders supplies as needed. * Attends continuing education programs and completes mandatory training in order to maintain licensure, position specific ongoing competencies and professional growth. * Follows hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety. * Other duties as assigned Education: * Successful completion of approved School of Radiologic Technology program. Certifications: * Current license as a radiologic technologist in the State of Ohio. * Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. * Obtained certification by ARRT in cardiovascular technology within two years of appointment to the position. * Maintains current CPR certification. Complexity of Work: * Maintains competencies specific to patient population served. Work Experience: * One to two years experience as a diagnostic technologist or one year experience in special procedures preferred.
