What You Will Do:
We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior Technical Writer to provide support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Office of National Continuity Programs (ONCP) Continuity Communications Division (CCD). As the Senior Technical Writer, you will play a critical role in creating, editing, and maintaining documentation related to continuity communications systems, ensuring their successful execution and delivery.
Responsibilities:
Research, draft, develop, and revise strategic plans, white papers, modeling, test and evaluation, lifecycle cost estimates, program documentation, JRIMS documentation, SELC documentation, and other ad hoc documents as requested.
Ensure the documentation's quality by editing, revising, rewriting, and analyzing the existing technical content to make it more user-friendly
Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including FEMA personnel, partners, and contractors.
evaluate and analyze the user feedback to understand the customer and integrate the feedback to improve documentation quality.
Transform complex documentation into simple concepts that are easy to understand by the end-users
Manage multiple conflicting priorities while supporting the various process owners
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, ensure alignment, and manage expectations throughout the document lifecycle.
Conduct regular communication and progress meetings with senior project management, providing updates on status and risks.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders to identify data required and inform of missing data needed to complete documents
Establish and enforce project quality standards, ensuring deliverables meet defined requirements and expectations.
Check for accuracy and consistency in all documentation.
What You Will Need:
US Citizenship and an ACTIVE and CURRENT SECRET federal security clearance
Bachelor's degree in a related field,
(TEN) 10+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a government or disaster management context.
Be proactive and highly organized, with strong attention to detail and follow through with the ability to handle multiple, complex tasks, and establish priorities
Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and deadline-driven environment
Capacity to work independently without significant guidance and be able to exercise good judgment, taking the initiative when necessary
Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio)
