McKesson's High Volume Solutions division has an opportunity for a Senior Technical Support Engineer in our Malvern, PA office. This is an office based position that will rotate 8 hour shifts between the hours of 8:00am

  • 8:00pm.

The Senior Technical Support Engineer supports our Central Fill Pharmacy and Mail Order Pharmacy customers in a critical production support role supporting automated drug dispensing systems.

Position Description

Senior Technical Support Engineers are highly skilled support software engineers with extensive product knowledge and systems hardware and software support experience. They are the top level of support within the HVS Customer Support Help Desk and are ultimately responsible for resolving the most complex customer technical issues. Possessing a broad background of technical expertise ranging from all parts of the HVS software design, workflow, functionality, hardware controls and communications systems to Windows operating systems and IIS (Internet Information Services), which they can draw upon to pinpoint issues and offer fast and accurate resolutions for customer issues.

Technical Support Engineers work closely with Software Development, Implementations, and Engineering in identifying and resolving hardware and software defects, new product development, Beta support and technical training. They also lead specialized support desk projects to improve support tools and training.

Job Responsibilities

Fixing software bugs using C++, C#

Support SSRS Report, Web Services

Trouble shooting issues involving Microsoft SQL Server (version 2008-2016) using SQL queries and SQL server knowledge

May need to work on second shift (11:30am-8:00pm) in a rotational basis

Ability to work in a fast paced working environment

Critical Experience Requirements
3+ years of C++, C# or Java programming experience

Strong work experience with multithreaded programming
2+ years of Working experience with SQL, Oracle or other databases including stored procedures and database queries

Strong knowledge on MS SQL Server, Windows Servers/Workstations, and network

Additional Experience

Strong knowledge on Web Services (SOAP, XML based communications) preferred

Knowledge of hardware devices such as laser printers, label printers, barcode scanners, and PLCs preferred

Willingness to learn and expand your expertise

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, or computers required

As a Technical Support Engineer (TSE), you will provide support on specific software, system solutions and applications. You would be responsible for assisting with upgrades, the prioritization and triage of service request investigations, performing technical investigating and resolving service requests, escalating issues as appropriate, and proactively monitoring system and application alarms. You will prioritize and manage your work queue in accordance with the service level agreements defined. You will use technical knowledge to understand the structure and location of the issue and code while being able to read and follow the basic code or application structure. Additionally, you will contribute to and use our knowledge base and identify opportunities for process improvements. We are looking for applicants who are detail oriented and motivated to constantly increase their knowledge on the functionality of existing platforms and applications.
