The Structural Engineering Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (SEI/ASCE), representing over
30,000 structural engineers globally, is currently seeking a senior technical manager to manage the technical community within SEI including facilitation and development of the Institute's technical and codes and standards activities, technical program development for SEI events, and continue education content.
Responsibilities include:
Spearheading technical and codes and standards activities within the institute and committees
Serving as liaison to technical community executive committee
Serving as spokesperson for technical community of the institute
Liaising with technical program committees to develop technical content for flagship SEI events
Developing, facilitating, and delivering technical content for SEI events including but not limited to virtual and in-person seminars, workshops, and other courses
Developing and facilitating development of short courses, webinars, manuals of practice, and state of the art education through work with committees and ASCE's continue education department
Supervising, training, and mentoring SEI's technical community staff
Ideal Candidates will have:
A 4‑year undergraduate degree in engineering or in a technical field related to the work of the Institute, or association management
A master's degree in an advanced and/or specialized field (preferred)
5-10 years of experience in engineering (structural engineering preferred), or association management experience working at a technically oriented membership organization
Expert proficiency with the MS Office suite of programs
Demonstrated success managing people and projects
Experience with marketing, negotiation, networking, operations management, multi-tasking, and diplomacy
Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills (oral and written)
A desire to travel for events and meetings
