Job Description:

The Business Systems Analyst for Integration Services leads and coordinates the development of functional specifications for Middleware and Integrated systems and applications. Interfaces with Project Teams to ensure that functional specifications capture business requirements and aids in the translation to technical requirements supplied downstream to the development team.


Responsible for maintaining functional and non-functional specifications in a portfolio of Middleware systems/applications designed to meet business requirements throughout project and program lifecycle.
Understand, evaluate, and document the business technical requirements and make recommendations for ways that systems and applications can best integrate based on functional and technical capabilities and limitations.
Lead both requirements and design sessions with stakeholders and provide technical expertise to drive requirements gathering and solutioning conversations.
Formulates and defines system scope and objectives through research, interviews and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements as it relates to system integrations.
Interview end-users/customers to define business requirements for systems/application integrations.
Develop and document systems/application integration specifications to include use-cases, flow diagrams, mock-ups and business rules.
Follows the defined System Development Lifecycle process which includes creation of required documentation and required approvals for each phase.
Delivers key software methodology deliverables including vision and scope definitions, requirements and design documents, test and implementation plans.
Ensures that customer insights are collected, disseminated, deeply understood, and used as the basis for development and enhancements of integrating systems, products and services.
In working with peers and customers, solicits and documents the functional specifications to assist the Integration Engineer in the design of technical structures based on the existing standards and processes to meet business requirements.
Oversee the relationship between the Business, Architecture, Development and Testing functions teams throughout the project life cycle to improve the quality of collaboration and communication.
Serve as a resource for QA team to define test plans and continuously improve the quality of test plans such that all technical bases are covered in the course of testing
Work closely with the QA team and release manager to ensure all identified scenarios are properly tested and defects are resolved and a quality end user product is delivered.
Manages project tasks assigned within scope, quality and timeframe allocated by PM, Manager and Supervisor.
Identifies and records risks, issues, dependencies and assumptions in accordance with project standards. Agree escalation level with Project Manager, Manager and Supervisor and then manage those assigned through to resolution including updating project risks and issues logs.


Minimum 9+ years of overall experience
Minimum 6 years of previous experience as a Middleware/Integration/API/Interface Business Analyst, including technical/requirements development, technical analyst or product manager.
Minimum 6 years experience overseeing technical multi-system integrations.
Advanced understanding of business and business systems analysis including data gathering, problem analysis, requirements specification, modeling and business process analysis.
Experience with technology implementation using API Manager and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) required. Example products are Mulesoft, Apigee, Fuse, Dell Boomie, WebSphere, Oracle Service Bus, etc
Complete understanding of Enterprise Integration patterns, fluent in message queueing architecture. Deep knowledge of SOA.
Bachelor's degree or 9+ years of relevant experience
Great communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal).
Works effectively and individually with technical and non-technical team members and customers.
Shares customer satisfaction mentality.
Proactive, self-driven and accountable.
Is able to exercise independent judgment, and take the lead role on enterprise level project with minimal direction from supervisor, manager or PM.
Demonstrates excellent analytical skills with ability to analyze complex system requirements.
Strong MS Suite skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
Good understanding of SDLC, IT processes and change management principles.
Enjoy working with a wide range of customers.
Proven ability to interact with external third parties, like vendors and partner organizations.
Experience in Universities and/or Healthcare is preferred.


Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Information Technology or other healthcare related field and 5 years relevant experience performing Business Analyst role.
HL7 Experience a plus.
HR/Payroll Systems Integration a plus.
