The overall purpose of this position is to provide leadership, quality control and capacity building for research and other forms of strategic inquiry around what works for lasting impact at scale across the humanitarian and development spectrum, highlighting CARE's approaches to address systemic complex challenges, with a particular emphasis on gender equality and women's voice.
Review, consolidate and advance CARE's thematic research agendas to fill critical knowledge gaps
Cultivate partnerships (internal and external) to accomplish research studies and strategic oversight
Define and implement a communication, dissemination, and influencing strategy for research findings
Identify relevant methods and data analytics to support strategic impact inquiries and other research
Ensure the level of quality and rigor in CARE's research practice through building staff capacity
Collaborate with the Fundraising and Competitive Bids Units to raise funds for research studies
Masters Degree in a development-related field, with a preference for social science research or monitoring and evaluation. At least seven years of research related experience, preferably in low resource settings in developing countries.
At least 10 years of progressive professional experience in development organization performance assessment
Experience in social science research and monitoring and evaluation using qualitative and quantitative methods
Theoretical background in CARE's approaches and emerging approaches and discourse in development practice, such as complexity science, systems thinking, innovation and scaling for impact, ICT for Development, responsible data, among others
3-5 years of experience at a global level in a multi-national organization on questions of impact and program quality assessment
Extensive knowledge of the history and practice of development since the colonial period and the changing paradigms of and for development over the last 100 years
Expository writing and speaking
Training in research ethics
