Senior Tax Manger

Location: Tampa / Clearwater, FL

Reports to: Senior Director of Tax

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Tax will assist with all aspects of the company's tax function, including income tax reporting, tax compliance, tax planning and strategy. This position requires a strategically focused leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company's tax position and minimize tax liabilities

  • Responsible for the preparation and review of the consolidated income tax provision, including preparation of the tax disclosures in the company's SEC filings (Forms 10-Q and 10-K), and related SOX 404 requirements

  • Direct the preparation and review of the federal and state tax returns

  • Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations related to the cannabis industry and ensure the company's tax practices remain in compliance

  • Provide support for Sales tax compliance -experience with Vertex a plus

  • Collaborates with finance, legal and the business on M&A activity, including tax due diligence, review of tax sections in acquisition agreements, and post-acquisition integration/compliance

  • Manages outside tax consultants that support the function's tax planning and compliance

  • Assist with the Oversight of audits of federal and state income tax as well as state and local indirect tax filings, including coordination with third party vendors

  • Manages a team of tax professionals with a focus on development and mentoring

  • Leads with a continuous improvement mindset across the department

  • Liaise with cross functional business leaders on tax impacts to departments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Law or other related degree as approved is required.

  • Strong working knowledge of ASC 740 and US GAAP

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required.

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience as a tax professional in a public accounting firm and/or in a corporate tax department.

  • Minimum 5+ years of management or supervisory experience is required.

  • Knowledge of Internal Revenue Code and is required.

  • Strategic mindset, strong problem solving, and diligently performs assigned tasks with the highest degree of professionalism and integrity.

  • Must have the capability to professionally, appropriately and effectively communicate with a diverse group of individuals.

  • Experience leading a team of tax professionals and managing service provider relationships

  • Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism including the ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality.

  • Must be able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, innovative, and continuously changing environment.

  • Must have excellent communication skills in business and technical environments.

Salary will be commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefits package including paid time off is offered with this position. This position will work an average of 40 hours per week and will be available "after hours" if an emergency situation should arise.
