You will participate in the design, development, and testing of our GoSystem Tax product using in-house development tools. In this role, you will collect, analyze, and prioritize requirements from various entities including external taxing authorities and our internal sources to define and make required changes to the GoSystem Tax software. It will require working closely with internal teams. This position requires a forward-thinking attitude to implement tax law changes in advance of a typical tax filing season. Depending on the nature of the project undertakes a combination of technical implementation and testing analyst tasks to understand customer and/or product needs in the context of internal & external requirements and/or software development information. As a Senior Tax Analyst, you will be working on medium to complex-level federal or state projects.
About the Role
Desired Experience
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Enrolled Agent (EA)
Two to four years of tax preparation experience
Experience with electronic filing of tax returns is a plus
Federal, State, city, and local income tax preparation
Experience using TR tax products in tax return preparation.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Communicate with other internal teams to stay abreast of tax law changes per jurisdiction
Constant monitoring of IRS and state taxing agency tax law changes by reviewing Checkpoint and other sources to stay current on impending tax law changes
Utilizing some project management skills including analyzing changes in tax code and the resulting software changes required, scoping the impact of the product enhancements and tax code changes on the software, development resources, and end users.
Analyze tax forms and related laws to ensure our software is kept current
Design the client interface, such as input/output screens, in our tax product
·Implement changes to our existing tax software products
Write and/or communicate design and system flow specifications for software engineers
Test software products
Write help documentation and work with technical writers to implement it into the software
Provide phone support to our customers on an as-needed basis
Mentoring other Tax Analysts
Assistance with more complex support cases that may not be in your area of development
About You
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance and/or Computer Science or equivalent degree; CPA certification a plus
2-4 years of recent tax preparation experience or experience providing technical support to end users of tax software or at least 3 years of experience using our internal development tools
At least 3 years of experience in analyzing Federal and State tax accounting laws and regulations.
Experience in reading and analyzing XML format for electronic filing of tax returns
Experience in technical client support working directly with tax professionals in resolving tax software issues and usability.
Strong communication and computer skills
Knowledge of ADO and tracking of work items through multiple teams
