Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare quarterly income tax provision and related tax accounting analyses such as stock-based equity awards, intercompany billings and tax reserves. Responsibility includes U.S. and non U.S. entities

  • Prepare U.S. federal and state income tax return workpapers including quarterly estimated tax payments

  • Coordinate U.S. sales and use tax and personal property tax filings

  • Coordinate non U.S. tax filings with external consultants

  • Assist in worldwide SOX processes

  • Assist in various tax planning projects

  • Assist in income and non-income tax audits

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-4 years of corporate tax experience preferably with a Big 4 accounting firm

  • Industry experience preferred but not necessary

  • Must have ASC 740 working knowledge

  • CPA preferred or CPA candidate

  • BA/BS in Business/Accounting or equivalent

  • A detailed-oriented professional with progressive knowledge on U.S. federal/state tax law and tax accounting principles

  • Exposure to non income tax such as sales and use and GST preferred

  • Exposure to tax filings in other countries preferred

  • Excellent interpersonal skills as well as analytical and organization skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with RIA Checkpoint, Oracle, Hyperion, One Stream, Equate Plus, Microsoft Word and Excel

VIEW JOBS 10/1/2019 12:31:26 AM 2019-12-30T00:31 <p>The Senior Financial Analyst will primarily assist with CymaBay’s research and development expense tracking including contract and invoice review and analysis, month end expense accrual accounting, and monthly variance analysis. The analyst shall also assist with the implementation of an accounting and a budgeting system and support ongoing enhancements to update the Company’s internal controls to meet SOX compliance requirements. This position will also provide support with budgeting and forecasting of research and development expenses, special projects and ad hoc analysis as needed.<br /> <br />  </p> <p><strong>Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Assist the Associate Director of Finance with research and development expense tracking; including contract and invoice review and analysis and monthly expense accruals accounting</li> <li>Design and maintain accurate expense tracking spreadsheets for all material vendor contracts and ensure accruals are consistently estimated, well documented, and fully supported</li> <li> Develop and maintain a strong business understanding of all research and development projects, including project timelines and current status, and become an expert in the financial terms of key vendor contracts</li> <li>Ensure complete, accurate and timely billing of work completed under vendor contracts</li> <li>Monitor project progress through key vendor contracts, invoices, data and other relevant</li> <li>analysis to prepare monthly expense accruals and assist with monthly variance analysis</li> <li>Support quarterly audit requests related to such research and development expenses and</li> <li>accruals</li> <li>Assist in the preparation of research and development expense budgets and forecasts</li> <li>Assist in implementation of the company’s new accounting and budgeting systems</li> <li>Participate in development and maintenance of enhanced internal controls to ensure robust</li> <li>SOX compliance</li> <li>Help assist with preparing external reports</li> <li>Provide financial analysis support to research and development personnel as needed</li> <li>Perform other ad hoc analysis and projects as assigned by the Associate Director and other</li> <li>Finance management as necessary</li> </ul> <p><br />  </p> <p><strong>Minimum Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting</li> <li>Experience in a biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry; including experience in clinical trial and</li> <li>drug development accrual accruals is required</li> <li>5+ years of growing responsibility and experience in accounting / finance (public company</li> <li>experience is very desirable)</li> <li>CPA desirable, Big 4 experience preferred</li> <li>Ability to work independently and multi-task under pressure; ability to meet deadlines and</li> <li>thrive in a fast-paced work environment</li> <li>Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines</li> <li>Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy, especially under the pressure of financial</li> <li>statement closes in a public company environment</li> <li>Strong computer system skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, accounting systems, budgeting</li> <li>systems, etc. )</li> <li>Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills with excellent written and verbal skills</li> </ul> Cymabay Therapeutics Newark CA
