Senior Tax Accountant
Position Summary:
The Senior Tax Accountant primarily supports and facilitates tax compliance, accounting, research and planning for property, fuel, sales and use taxes. The Senior Tax Accountant demonstrates strong technology skills, including utilizing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, database applications and spreadsheet software. The Senior Tax Accountant supports the Tax Manager including assistance with supervision and review of work performed by staff.
Essential Responsibilities:
Prepare and review sales/use, fuel excise and property tax returns
Support external advisors with foreign Value Added Tax (VAT) and Goods and Services Tax (GST) compliance
Prepare tax budgets and forecasts
Prepare and review tax accruals and analysis/reconciliation of general ledger tax accounts
Meet deadlines, including filing due dates and monthly financial reporting
Coordinate and assist with audits by tax authorities and internal/external financial audits
Recommend and assist with process improvements, including Vertex sales/use tax solution
Maintain technical tax skills pertinent to the position
Ensure appropriate documentation and internal controls are maintained
Perform research to support tax compliance and planning
Occasional supervision of staff
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experiences and Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
Three (3) years of property, sales & use tax or related experience
Multi-state sales and use tax audit experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
Adept analytical, accounting and documentation skills
Capable of working independently and in a team environment
Detail oriented
Experience with ERP systems (SAP and Vertex preferred)
Proficient with Microsoft Office (including spreadsheet expertise), tax compliance and research systems
Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
Must pass a pre-employment drug test
Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
Property tax audit, assessment review and appeals experience
Fuel tax and VAT experience

Regular attendance and punctuality
Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
Able to maintain a professional appearance
When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
