Position Summary

The Senior Tax Accountant primarily supports and facilitates income and franchise tax compliance, accounting, research and planning. The Senior Tax Accountant demonstrates strong tax knowledge and technology skills, including spreadsheet, research and compliance software, and the ability to meet deadlines. The SeniorTax Accountant supports the Tax Manager includingassistance with supervision and review of work performed by staff.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Preparation and review of income and franchise tax returns for federal and state jurisdictions

  • Preparation of income tax provision and accruals

  • Document FATCA compliance and preparation of Form 1042

  • Preparation of the income and franchise tax budget

  • Perform and review analysis and reconciliations of general ledger accounts

  • Maintain technical tax skills pertinent to the position

  • Ensure appropriate documentation and internal controls are maintained

  • Perform research to support tax compliance and planning

  • Coordinate and assist with audits by tax authorities and internal/external financial audits

  • Recommend and assist with process improvements

  • Ability to meet deadlines, including filing due dates and quarterly financial reporting

  • Occasional supervision of staff

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

MinimumExperience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, tax or finance

  • Three (3) years of corporate income tax or relevant experience, including working knowledge of corporate tax compliance and ASC 740 provision (formerly FAS 109)

  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines

  • Proficient in analytical, accounting and documentation skills with strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Master's Degree/CPA

  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite (including spreadsheet expertise), tax compliance and research systems

  • Public accounting experience

  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)

Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice

  • Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance

  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

Position Overview Align seeks an ambitious Senior Accountant with Great Plains / Microsoft Dynamics GP experience who will report directly to the CFO, managing the automation of accounting and financial reporting activities of the firm. This position requires a motivated team member and individual contributor who is passionate about accounting and has five or more years of experience. This role is a high-profile position and a key leadership role within our organization. Responsibilities include documenting, automating and streamlining accounting department procedures; including providing instructions, recommendations and/or accounting support to personnel. A solid foundation in accounting principles and a fundamental knowledge of accounting best practices are key requirements.
