Supports all areas in the Indirect Tax function at Williams Scotsman, Inc., including but not limited to Sales & Use Tax, Personal Property Tax, Real Property Tax, and Business License reporting.

Reporting structure

Reports To: Indirect Tax Manager

Main responsibilities

  • Prepares/coordinates preparation of state and local indirect tax returns (US & Canada).

  • Prepares monthly account reconciliations of assigned accounts.

  • Resolves tax issues with state and local taxing authorities.

  • Assists in the management of state and local tax audits.

  • Identifies opportunities for deployment of technology in automating all appropriate aspects of the tax function.

  • Performs tax research projects under the direction of Tax Manager.

  • Resolves issues in Tax Help Inbox that originate primarily from collections and branches.

  • Maintains and expands level of professional competence through monitoring technical developments and participation in professional seminars.

  • Prepares business license applicable and renewals.

  • Knowledge of indirect tax laws and regulations.

  • Knowledge of indirect tax compliance requirements.

  • Knowledge of business license reporting

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple priorities, coordinate complex projects, and develop and implement solutions to tax related business issues.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other related Microsoft programs (Word, Outlook, etc.)


  • Bachelor's degree in a business discipline such as Accounting, and at least four (4) years of related work experience in Indirect Tax matters, or the equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience.

  • Experience with Vertex, Oracle and/or OMB (billing system) or comparable software a plus.
