Primary Responsibilities

HDR Engineering is looking for a Senior System Protection & Studies (SPS) Engineer to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals in our Minneapolis, MN office.

The primary duties of the Senior SPS Engineer position include responsibility for knowledge and execution of the technical aspects and deliverables of projects assigned and is an experienced, competent engineer who generally understands and can complete all technical requirements of projects of basic to moderate complexity.

  • Coordinate the work of SPS Engineers with the balance of a multidiscipline team throughout the entire project's development

  • Provide the QA/QC and peer review activity for SPS relay setting projects.

  • Responsible for detailed design, review and oversight of protective relay settings, device coordination and fault analysis.

  • May be responsible for supervising the work of engineers, designers and draftsmen.

  • Establish client relations, and participate in the marketing, design and production meetings with regard to SPS related

Duties and Responsibilities: * Provide Systems Engineering for advanced tactical wireless sensor and communications systems throughout the system lifecycle * Translate customer requirements into system requirements; perform requirements analysis and systems partitioning * Support design of embedded signal processing and communications system architectures * Flow down systems requirements to architectural elements * Perform systems analysis, modeling and simulation * Identify and conduce system design trade studies * Analyze performance and conduct system validation * Assist with transition to production and with development of user training and support Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of experience or an equivalent combination of skills, education and experience. Skills and Knowledge: * Knowledge of tactical wireless sensors and communications systems. * Knowledge of real-time embedded HW & SW systems, signal processing applications, RF systems, digital systems, spectrum capture platforms, data fusion / mining, location services, processing frameworks. * Knowledge of a structured systems engineering process and tools and how to tailor them appropriately for a given program. * Experience with intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) or electronic warfare (EW) systems * Experience in new business development including proposal writing * Experience interacting with customers, development teams, and program managers * Knowledge of Microsoft software applications and other software applications as required * There is no clearance requirement to begin employment. As a requirement of continued employment you will be required to obtain Secret clearance.
