The Senior Systems Engineer shall be responsible for coordinating the design, documentation, integration, testing, training, and in-servicing activities associated with the deployment of communications sub-systems on major transit and freight rail projects. This position shall report to the Director Engineering of the WCOM Business Unit.
Travel is required to support project planning and meetings, development of test plans and training programs.
- Project Lead for data communications sub-systems provided by Wabtec in support of major transit and freight rail projects. Capture requirements associated with the high-level design of the data communications sub-system and its required components.
Develop interface control documents (ICDs). Develop supporting contract documentation (e.g. data requirements lists - CDRLs). Integrate data communications sub-system components.
Develop sub-system acceptance criteria. Develop project-related factory acceptance and in-servicing test plans.
Develop recommended system level maintenance programs. Drive timely identification and resolution of customer-reported product variance issues. Develop training programs and materials in support of WCOM products and systems. Must be able to travel in support of meetings with customers on the design, development, and integration of communications systems.
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field. Minimum 5 years' experience designing and deploying data communications networks and system infrastructure in a mission-critical, enterprise environment.
Effective oral and written communication skills. Knowledge and experience with IP networks, microprocessors and common data communications components. Strong debug and troubleshooting skills.
Familiar with a variety of industry concepts, practices, and procedures as applied in rail transportation. Work independently and perform a variety of complicated tasks. Provide technical support to team members.
Comply with Railway Roadway Worker Programs and Safety Rules. Perform all other duties as assigned. Possess a valid driver's license and passport.
